Any very knowledgable Audiophile, please help me!!!

Ok, I have posted several things in the past asking question to help me with my own vehicle setup, now for something a little off the wall. I am getting ready to have to write a thesis and would love to write it on the mathematics behind subwoofers, car audio, etc. As you can tell from my previous posts I don't have to much of an idea of the all-around idea of mathematics. I was wondering if ya'll could point me in the right direction for anything regarding any type of mathematics behind car audio, etc. Again I know this is a odd request, but I researched every major mathematics college and no paper has ever really been written about this from a college student and would love to be the first to do it. Any help would be great....THANKS.

has math on how to calculate port length. You could discuss that in part, or how around tuning frequency the sub moves very little and why.

There are actually a large number of technical papers regarding the speaker industry, in fact pretty much all of the developments in the industry have been written about this way. Since you are writing a thesis you should have access at your school to the JAES (Journal of the Audio Society) and can source all sorts of different information that will help narrow your thoughts down. By thesis, I assume you have to do some unique research and paging through what is available should help.

they have a crap load of papers with a bunch of mathematic jargon in it

The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook would be a good place to start.

Has many of the formula's regarding parameter calculation, etc....plus you can look up the references Vance used for writing the book for further information.

Wow. I honestly never would have imagined there could be so much out there. I am gonna have a field day going through all of this stuff, LOL. I really like the port idea along with speaker excursion in regards to frequency....thanks TEJ. Also, thanks everyone for all the input on where I can find info, I am sure it will greatly help. I may just run to the bookstore tomorrow and see about ordering the loudspeaker design cookbook.

Look for the 7th or 6th edition online, PE was closing them out at like 1/3 the normal price a little while back. The "newer" updates won't help much anyway.

Hell freakin yeah I am Jason!!!! I plan on learning everything I can little by little till I can do this all myself. I am tired of paying a butt load for some POS installer to do the work. I want to finally do this so I can say I can do something besides crunch some stupid numbers or work on computers/write programs. I am gonna be the next world SPL champ....LOL. Probably not, but still, you know how it be. I am sure I will start learning plenty with all the work on this paper.
