Recommended Posts

i asked this question last week if a factroy 140 amp alt, 2 hc2000's redtop, 4 runs and a big3 could run 2 1500d's and jacob ok'd me. BUT will that alt be able to charge all 3 batteries? i'm asking because not alot of companies make a HO alt for the 2000+devilles yet. it sucks. thanks in advance.

It'll charge them, yes. I have a 50-amp bench supply charging a Kinetik 2400 and a 1000 CA starting battery :)

*oops I edited your post by accident*

Anyhow... one run of an oversized 1/0 wire like KnuKonceptz Kolossus would be great.

You will be drawing 350+ amps at full output.

Sorry about the accidental edit... *sundownz*

so i wouldnt need a new alt for 350 plus amps of current? holy chit

That all depends... the 140 amp alt will charge the batteries, but not if you are constantly calling on the full 350+ amps of draw. Playing a sine wave or rap music at FULL output will give your alternator a problem... regular music and daily listening levels won't be an issue as actual current draw in normal situations is way less than maximum.

continuing jacobs posts ^

since u dont listen to ur music at full tilt 100% of the time, this means ur batteries will always stay toward the higher side. Because of this, ull be using the alternator in conjunction with your batteries to produce the power you need when u play your system at full tilt. and once u go back to daily habits, ur batteries will charge, or u can charge them over night with a charger if you beat on them good that day.

U should be fine. and as someone posted earlier. i think u should be safe running 1 large hyperflex kicker 1/0 run, or knu kollosus cable. both support 300 amps for sure. im sure a little more.
