Which amp would be better for a BTL?

Recommended Posts

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I know nothing outside of Rockford amps. I am getting some BTL's fully loaded and am curious, what would be better to put on each one. The Kicker 2500.1 or the Sundown 3000D? This is for daily driving. Would the extra $400 be worth the extra 500 watts per sub? How good are Sundown, heard Kicker were good.

Thanks in Advance

did you post twice on purpose or by accident? I am assuming accident since they are exactly the same. LOL! I did the same thing on another forum once. I wish I had an answer, I am actually a little curious as to this one as well, hopefully someone will leave some good advice. Good Luck

honestly id get whatever the ohm load your looking at running would be best at, if 2ohm get the kicker if lower get the sundown

5000 watts to 6000 watts is roughly a 20% gain in power, which will give you less than 1db theoretical gain. Both amps seem to be pretty stout, but everyone says that the sundown amps are very under-rated, and while there is no warranty at 1/2 ohm, I've read where people are running them at that very safely.

Imo though, I'd give them as much power as you could. Have you talked to denim about prices? He might be able to help you out if not.

You won't hear it, you may gain a couple tenths on a sensor but that's about it.

It was a joke. I'm sorry you didn't get it.

I vote Sundown.

I can't beleive it would only give, theoritically, less than 1 db. Put from what you were telling me Tej, Sundowns seem like some really good amps. Looks like it may just be worth the extra couple hundred.

cant go wrong with the 2500.1/btl combo, run each amp at 1.4ohms, give some good power

^ I think I offended some calc. professors yesterday. They were studying for a continuing ed class, and being that I used to do programming a lot I told them I used to make programs to do the equations, and that I could make them some if they wanted (genuinely a nice offer imo). They got upset and told me a program wouldn't help them pass the test, and that it couldn't do the math.

?? Whats the point in being rude when someone is trying to be nice? They can take all these classes and learn how to teach people, and then have no people skills to deal with their students?!

Oh well, since college I've never had a situation where I couldn't look things up- that's real life, and I don't feel college prepares people fully for application of what they learn. Why study formulas and memorize them long enough to pass a test and then forget them? Why not teach people how to figure eqations out the same way you read a sentence instead of memorization? I'm sorry, I'll stop ranting- I'm just frustrated with some people teaching methods.

As Jimj said, there most likely wont be an audible difference in amps. Everyone says the sundown line is very under-rated though, so I don't know how much of a difference there would be. I love the fact that everyone seems to have great customer service with them too. I'm considering switching to sundown myself.

Yes, bills do suck and where can you find the 2500 for $400 less than the 3000. I'm positive you can't unless it's been used and abused. On E-bay they generally go for in between $600-700+. If you tried and looked I know you can pick one up for around $900. I did and it's been the best investment I've made Car Audio wise. What I can say is I've owned 2 kicker amp KX800.2 and the older ZR360 both of them ended up blowing. Just do some more research the Sundown 3000 will explain itself. You can't go wrong with it or the warranty you'll get with it. Not that you'll need to use it or anything, I'm serious these amps aren't punks. If you upgrade your electrical system the correct way you can run these at .5 ohm ALL DAY long w/ almost 4500 watts.

I got thru calc, stat and finite by programming my TI83...

It's not about memorization...it's about using the tools available to accomplish the task at hand.

I once used Google on an Access test because the teacher said we could use any resource other than other students.

I shouldn't have to worry much about it. Last time he tutored me I aced the exam, a great math teacher. Hell, I think I learn more from Mathman than I do my own professor, LOL! And yeah, I will be at your house this weekend, thanks for the help again.

^^ if it works good for you, great, but all my profs. beat the equation in just enough to pass the test, and never taught it to learn it.
