I'm almost done deciding

Recommended Posts

So I've got a few more options for you guys to run through with me. I'm attempting to reuse a lot of my old system so I don't have to go through the ordeal of selling it all and rebuying most of it. :domoslay:

So here's where I stand so far:

7" Mids one of the following choices:

Seas W18EX-001

Seas W18NX-001

Peerless XG18WH00

Tweets I'll be re-using my Aurasound silk 1" tweets

Amps I was going to go with DLS, but I have a Monitor 1 combo I want to try and use

- Monitor 1 Mk4.70 for tweets and mids (with matching MX-1 crossover)

- Need a sub amp (300w @ 4ohm minimum)

Head Unit something with DVD playback capabilities. Since I'll be using an active crossover already, I don't really need something with advanced processing capabilities. Leaning more towards Eclipse.

Subs

- 2 CDT EF-8 mounted in .50cf sealed boxes in my suicide doors. 4ohm drivers @ 150w ea.

And thats it. Any comments are welcome, even those that begin with "wtf? you've got to be kidding me"

IIRC, DLS makes a medium-power monoblock that would do as a sub amp, or Zapco, or a bunch of others...not that critical.

Everything else sounds good...

I think your thinking of the REFERENCE series RA10. That one looks nice. And it can go down to 1ohm

Typical power in 4 ohm 300 W

Typical power in 2 ohm 500 W

Typical power in 1 ohm 780 W

Kicker makes one also, but the Zapco or ZED Minilith are good options.

In car, W18NX>W18E>>>XG18. No brainer in that list is the Nextel.

I actually looked at the SAE-1000D for a sub amp as well. Especially since I'm all for supporting what vendors we have here. I'll PM denim shortly.

Thanks for arraying the mids in quality order ///M5, looks like a go for the NX's

The pure midrange of the E might be a bit better, but it will only play to 1.2k without a notch. The NX will have much better midbass. The XG has a nice midrange but not as nice IMO as either Seas and will lack in midbass compared to both as well. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy the NX.
