SPL sub, is it close Mark?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, its real close. I just need to firm up pricing and change cosmetics a bit. We are looking at the most aggressive driver to come from Mach 5 - both in price and performance.

This unit will be a combo of high SPL capabilities with sound quality decent enough for daily driving. For those who want it for daily there will be a nice aluminum basket mounting ring for the sex appeal. For those who want it for shear output, a rubber wrap-around gasket will also be included.

Due to the high pricing of this unit (sorry to break the under $200 price barrier) and get the full commitment from those who are interested, a pre-order will be taking place in the coming days.

More on this later.

Best,

Mark

For first hand experience, I have been testing the 2nd prototype. Mark has the latest edition/version. Though there are some upgrades and improvements over the old version I have, I am surprised as the level of low freq reproduction this thing has. Most SPL subs that I have had hands on experience with tend to be weak in the bottom of the low freq range because they are meant to peak higher. My only need now is more power for it to push it to and maybe past its limits. SPL wise it has put up good numbers on minimal testing (thank you to Randy for a sweet box). So knowing Mark, this will be very solid and killer for the price.

I have tested it in:

1.1 cubes sealed

2.0 @27hz ported

3.1 @33hz ported

3.5 @52hz ported.

I imagine the dual 2 ohm will have a DC Resistance of around 1.4 ohm per coil, if that's what you're asking for.

You're right Neil. If dual 1's are requested, they would probably end up ~0.7 Ohm (off the top of my head of course - other things must be factored in).

How much power have you put into it and how much power would you like to?

The most amount of power I have had on it is my Orion 2500D.

What type of db numbers?

It has hovered in the lower 140's but off a single battery and it needs more power.

That is up to Mark if he wants to do 10's or not. The 12 by it self can achieve some strong out put, but to beat or stay with the top guys in street A, dual 10's are needed.
