Power output of the Multi channel amps

Recommended Posts

I was wonder have any testing been done on the SAX 100.2 and SAX 100.4. I about to become a dealer and I'm really in to great multi channel amps and I'm building a SQ comp car now and using DLS ultimate amps. I would just like to now want the real world output of these amps are, seeing how much headroom is built into the sub amps.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

The SAX-100.4 is good for around ~110 per channel and the SAX-100.2 for around ~125 per channel by design. They are both underrated correspondingly. Dynamic power is substantially higher than rated as anyone who has heard one can attest :) I had a dealer in California compare the SAX-100.4 very favorably to his Audison amps, which is a brand that he carries and sells -- he tested an SAX-100.4 head to head just out of curiosity :)

"After setting gains and level matching both amps, I started out with some fav's... Eagles hotel california live on dvd audio, My first impressions were that I was not listening to an amp that retail for less than 500.00.

All of the crossovers were doing their job superbly, all cut points were fairly accurate, all power and input sections were noise free.

Music reproduction was clean and warm, but not quite as rich as I am used to with my audison's and tubes.

All in all it is a great piece of equipment if you are looking to buy a 4-ch amp in the 500.00 price range."

and

"Well I own a retail shop that sells other high-end equipment, and thought I'd give sundown an honest heads up test against some Audison amps.

I did it because I was interested in what his amps were all about, and he did it because he wanted the evaluation.

I think the tests went great and another thing, the amps pricing is spot on with its performance. Hell I was on another site and heard people talking about how "pricey" sundown is.. and I just had to jump in there and say I think they are right were they need to be with their retail prices.

I will say that I have yet to test any other amplifier that is of the china/usa builds that sounds as good as this little sundown."

I will be putting up a review of my newly arrived sax 100.4

I had a 4 channel soundstream reference series 644s (4x75)

then i switched to 2 soundstream rubicon 502 one for tweets one for mids (125 x 2 each amp)

I also had an Alpine MRV-F345 (4x75) prior to the soundstreams but sold it

So i will be able to compare sundowns to those amps

they aren't exactly high Quality amps but they are much more expensive then the 100.4 (the two rubicons ran me about 680 for two, the 644s ran me around 500 used)...

Prior to the 100.4 arrival the 644s sounded the cleanest but the loudest were the two rubicon 502..

i am looking for good things from my 100.4

I'll post up once i get it in and all tweaked up

Cant wait to read it, I was real curious about the amp myself, interesting to hear what you have to say about it. Having heard the Soundstream ref 644, I wasnt to impressed with it.

I run both a 100.4 and 100.2 in my car, and I'll tell you, they are great amps. Definately underrated, and nice, clean sounding amps. They outclass the Memphis M-Series amps that they replaced, both in power, price and performance.
