MAW 10's powered off a 9.1 at 1 ohm

Recommended Posts

Would this work? I know the rms is only 250 rms. The box is tuned to 35 hz (slot ports) and is 2 cuft before displacement. I remember seeing a thread saying the MAW's could take a little more then their rms, but would 600 watts be pushing it?

I found a guy selling a pair for $35 each , $87 total shipped to me. I have been wanting to get a pair of MAW's since M5 showed up on the forums, I think I am going to go ahead and buy them and just go easy on the gain.

What say you guys, Mark, feel free to leave your expert input :D

IME, the maws can indeed handle more then rated. 350 over rated might be pushing it. but as you mentioned, set your gains carefully, and i believe you'll be happy with the results.

I agree, 600 per driver would definitely be too much. But now that I know what it is you are doing, I cannot provide warranty. :P

I know Mark :D, I had no intention of blowing them up then sending you a message saying they were faulty.

I baby my equipment anyway, I would likely turn the volume down before I blew anything. Thanks guys for responding :)

I have run 3 of them, in parallel (0.67 load) off of a XT2000d, sealed. I wouldn't power them more than that.

For that price buy em and find out! Whats the worst that happens, you have some fun and smoke some drivers. :)

Oh and I think the Nine.1 is closer to 1500rms @ 13.8v.

I have a 9.1 amp...very nice amp

if you can supply it with a constant 13.8 volts or higher it will do more than rated power easily.

Just set the gains with a DMM to give the 10s 500 watts total

I kind of figured my 9.1 does a little more than rated power, but with all the eD haters out there, I am to afraid to be harping on about it doing more than rated rms.

With that said, gains will be set to a reasonable level should I power a couple of MAW 10's with it. Thanks everyone for responding :D
