using egg carton foam in a sub enclosure?

i see the stuff being used in doors, but would it be beneficial any to use this egg carton acoustic foam in a car subwoofer enclosure?

and if it is beneficial, i should just apply to the entire side the motor is facing right?

If you have some to play around with, it might be worth a try. I have seen many different types of materials go into HA enclosures, so you could give it a shot and tell us how it worked.

I thought that was just to tame the high frequencies and I can't really see it doing anything to help in a subwoofer enclosure.

Yeah, at low frequencies standing waves aren't as much of a problem - in a bookshelf or tower speaker, sure...but it's a waste of money in a sub box.
