3000d ???

Recommended Posts

well since some of the team member's have them what is the good word? what ohm you running? voltage? test's result's from amp swap's? any problem's? burp or roll? my first one should be here next week and I want to get ahead of the game.

once my batteries get here, I'll do some clamping. I wouldn't want to kill an amp or the single kinetik 1400 that's in my car right now.......lol

I am forgoing the 3000d route for now. Will definitely have a few of them as my sister is getting into dB drag next year with me, and will have 2 cars to build.... Funnn! Plus there aren't enough shows left that I can attend to get me a finals invite, so I will save some hotel/ gas money and reinvest it in 3000d's, wiring and such. Not to mention hopefully a small hatch for me, and a 2 door cherokee for her, or a older dodge b-van. Would love to do something similar to bob's from team 420, but with only 4 woofers to stay out of his class as he is hitting mid to high 60's. I am also working on getting a "super spl" 10" woofer designed. And will hopefully have a few to help out fellow team members running 10" woofers.

well i just driopped my 3000 in and lost 1 db. I did a 150.7 with 1500's @ 1ohm strapped and can't get to a 150 with the 3000 @ .35 ohm. I need to make some change's and we will see if I can get it back up there

Hmmm... that is an interesting one, other drop-ins have produced similar scores.

well i might be choking the amp! so more wire and buss bar's in the back is the next thing. then i think when i get the other 3000 i'm going to do a false floor with the 3000's under glass. did you get my PM jacob?

Yep, I got it. I'll let you know when I receive the package.

Could be choking the amp... at 0.35 ohms it'll draw hella current.

Damn the saz-1500d is just so bad-ass.....

I'm sure the 3000d can produce better numbers once you guys get all the fine tuning and wrinkles out...

Please keep updating with improvements and what exactly was done to achieve these improvements...

I am currently saving for either 2x saz-1500d or 1 saz-3000d....

So i will be following this thread closely

how about some more power numbers

input voltage 16.8 dropping to 16.0

Volts | amps | power | actual impedence

76.8 | 55.6 | 4270.08 | 1.381294964

still has more power to give i just need a sub that can handle it the mt 12 didnt like gettign 4200 watts dropped on it

well i got 2 + 2- hooked to it @ .35ohm's and got it to do a 150.8 but still is protect happy. so more wire in the next few week's when I find time. i think with 4+4- to each 3000 it might hold up to a full tilt burp and not a slow roll

Indeed, sounds like it needs more juice.

The joys of Street A.........Wouldn't it be so much easier to slap a battery bank in there.......lol

anyone got any 12 volt test's yet?

ALSO POSTED IN 3000D POWER TEST THREAD:

Alrighty... so I abused the infamous Pyramid power supply a bit more today. Same setup I've been using for other clamp tests:

Pyramid 50 Amp Power Supply

8 AWG from supply to batteries

Kinetik 2400 Battery

Duralast 1000 CA Battery

2 AWG between batteries

4 AWG from batteries to amp

Fluke AC current / voltage meter

Sears DMM

Measurements:

65.8 volts

49.2 Amps

1.33 ohm calculated rise from 0.6 ohm DCR **

3237 Watts

14.4 volts rest dropping to 10.75 volts

** - Rise was higher than when I tested the 1500D, it was 1.08 ohms for that test. Presumably since my single run of 12 AWG speaker wire is heating up some much due to the extra power. I also did a few test runs at lower volume so the coils were warmer as well.

I really need a much more powerful power supply for this test. Pretty well simulates a stock Honda alternator or something, though!

I didn't try to push for more volume on the test HU... I may do that later, but the voltage drop was getting so bad I didn't want to damage the amp from under-voltage.
