Single BL 10" to 2 10" SSD's

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am planning on trading my single BL 10" to a friend for 2 10" SSD's . I am trading because I just cant come up with the money for a new amp and another BL 10".

So I figure, with my current amp (eD 9.1) I would be better off with 2 D1 SSD's. I have a custom built box for 2 10's , but never could come up with the monies to purchase the 2nd BL so the box is just sitting in my basement living room.

I am thinking the SSD's would sound great off 1200 watts or 600 each. What I am hoping is that they will be louder than the single BL, I am assuming that with the extra cone area of the 2 that they will be louder off that alone.

What do you guys think?

Was the BL 10 ported and now the ssds will be too, or the bl sealed and the ssds ported? Honestly if everything else is the same you would gain 3 dbs at the most (unless the difference between the two will change something), which is not a huge jump in output. Maybe someone else with a bit more experience could say more about it.

The BL was/is ported, so to will the SSD's be ported, they are going to go in the box I had built for the 2 BL's.

If its a straight swap, thats not a bad deal... like Tej mentioned, its not a huge jump in ouput, but there is a difference.

Yea, its a straight swap. I just cant come up with the money for a 2nd BL and money to upgrade my amp and electrical to support the 2 BL's and a 2000 + watt amp.

Thanks guys for responding :)

I'd rather have the SSD's anyway, less peaky drivers, better musical potential...may or may not matter any to you.

Tell us how it turns out, I'd love to hear a bit of a comparison from someone who has owned both in the same vehicle :)
