Does box tuning stay the same with different drivers?

Recommended Posts

I have a box in my Mustang that's 2.5 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz that's used fo my 12" Mag D2. If I just swtich out the Mag D2 with a 12" Fi Q, would the tuning still be 32 Hz, or am I missing something?

it will only change the slightest bit due to different displacements of the drivers

bottom line: dont worry about it

Hey, are you one of the guys who was giving the Low-Hz guy a hard time? Ben's the one who gave me the box specs for the Mag I got from him, and since I got it from him I built the box that way. The box he told me to do was a ported box that's 2.5 ft^3 after displacement and port with 20 in^2 of vent, and the port being 16" long. Now, I understand you and Ben disagree on buisness stuff(which I do not want to be a part of), but I just want to know if his specs actually is a box tuned to about 32Hz. I have no idea how that chit works, and I noticed that he gave me a small vent size and a short port length compared with other boxes. I thought I can get your opinion on the box. Thanks.

a 2.5 cube box with a port 16" long and an area of 20 sq inches gives a tuning of 33.08 Hz

So my box is more 33 Hz the 32 Hz.

Can you explain to me how you got that so I can educate myself (or at least point me to a website that explains it). thanks again.
