How much RMS wattage

Recommended Posts

I was plan of buying 4 Fi BL series 15's. I needed to know how much RMS wattage could the speakers really take. I am going with the flatwind voicecoil, with the cooling option, and the daily driver. I already have an amp in mind that puts out 4kw. If the speakers can take a little more I will looking into maybe a 5kw amp. I do plan to use a bass processor in line with the amp. I am open to any suggestions.

I doubt the difference would be noticeable to the ear at all, and probably wouldn't be much on a sensor :)

I would consider giving them closer to 1500w a piece. two saz-3000s or two 4kw amps would be pretty good imo. If you are asking will they sound good on 1k watts each, I think so. My bro's giving his bl a bxi-2006d (2000w) and it handles it fine as well. I'd get the larger amp just because I feel there's never too much power ;)

Although RIckRolled is right about the difference being minuscule. Even going from 4 up to 6k watts will only get you around 1.5db gain on a good day, which isn't a huge difference for the price difference. It's your call as to whats loud enough and in your budget. Good luck.

I agree because I did not notice too much of a difference in the power upgrade. The real gain in spl came when I built a better enclosure and added a better woofer. This is a budget build so really I am getting not the best amp so what do you think about the Massive Audio P 3000.1. What is your opinion on this amp.

I believe its been tested to put out around 26-2700 watts. Were you planning on running 1 or 2 of those?

If that's the amp that i think it is that has 1 little torriod and 2 caps...with 2 boards in the same case.

Not a snowballs chance in hell it'd do that kind of power, let alone cleanly.

Personally I would look for a used american bass 200.1, 500.1, memphis 4kw mojo, incriminator audio 20.1/40.1, Sundown Saz-1500d, 3000d, There are just soo many amps out there that can deliver some crazy power. Even the lanzar opti-drive 6000 was reviewed to put out 6kw and do it well. No firsthand knowledge on any of the Lanzar opti's so someone else will have to step in and say something on behalf of lanzar.

I've heard good things about their opti amps as well. Never had experience with them either, but people have said they're decent. Don't have anything positive to say about some of their other products though...

I had a Soundstream 6500 (for 1 day) which shares the board of the opti 4000 I believe, and it smoked upon hooking it up. Popped it open and half the board was burned black. Something defective there..

There is a guy on the termpro classifieds with some memphis 4ks for 675 shipped-I just can't get ahold of him. :(

I was looking to buy two of them. I did look at the memphis and that may be the last resort even though it was my first choice. I just trying to prove a point to someone that I still can beat them without the best. I also was considering a concept amp. What are your opinion on those amps. What do you think about Autotek. If I really could find what I was looking for I would get four Viper 1200.1 amps. I know for a fact that those are strong amps but they are hard to find now.

gotcha- I just trying to prove a point to someone that I still can beat them without the best.

I also was considering a concept amp. What are your opinion on those amps. I was told by sooo many people around me that these amps are awsome. The only shop that sells these amps sells ONE line of subwoofers called RAZRs, which they tried to sell me a 15 in a ported box for $110-but that's beside the point, they're just a terrible shop.

I had an OLD American Pro amp, that puts out around 400 a channel. I got two concept mono amps that were supposed to put out 800rms each or somewhere around there, and hooked them to the subs I had the old amp on. I COULD NOT get those subs to move like they should've, or like the 400w amp did. Either there was something wrong with the amps, or they were so overrated it was rediculous. I doubt it was 'bad' amps because they both pushed the sub the same- almost not at all. And the subs were only type-rs, so they didn't need a lot of power either...

What do you think about Autotek - I've heard decent things about autotek, but I've never owned any of their amps. I'd like to see one of their mm4000 in action.

There are plenty of brands most people think are crap that setup properly will outperform high end gear. I had hifonics, and most people around here hadn't heard of them strangely enough. They were amazed to see what an 'off brand' amp could do :)
