Which amplifier wiring kit?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a 4gauge wiring kit and since I would need fuses, ring terminals etc, I figured buying a complete kit would be my best bet right?

What brand do you guys recommend?

I was looking www.knukonceptz.com but their kits come with RCA's, and I already have some DB Link RCA's in the truck. I've heard good things about knukonceptz, but that's because they're good quality and cheap, but if you guys don't recommend them let me know.

I would either recommend Knu or Kicker Hyperflex.

I've had good luck with Knukonceptz, going to re-wire my living room entirely with it one of these days.

Why get a kit? Just piece it together.

ok, so where should I order the peices from? Should I go to a local audio shop or would they have raised prices? Post a link to a good site if you don't mind.

The nearest audio shop is 45mins away...

I just bought a whole bunch of stuff from Knu. A buch of distro blocks, inline fuse holders, RCA's, terminals.

Showed a buddy that does installs for a living. He and I both thought the quality was better than RF and Stinger stuff we BOTH own.

Knu gets my vote.

alright, well I guess that's that then. I'll piece it together from them

one more question though, which wire should I get? I know they offer 3 levels of wire and I'm only going to run 600watts but maybe 1000 sometime in the future. Which wire would you recommend?

Alright guys, this is what I'm going to order soon and I need your input. My current amp is 600watts, but I might sell it and get a 1000watt amp...

In-Line Waterproof Mini-ANL Fuse Holder (Fuse included) $7.99

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FH-44

Which 4ga wire should I get?

Kolossus $1.35/ft

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.c...olossus%20Kable

KLM $0.89/ft

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.c...ory=KLM%20Kable

Accessories:

Gold Plated 4AWG Ring Terminal -Black (For Ground) $0.99

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=RT4516BK

Gold Plated 4AWG Ring Terminal -Red (For Battery Connection) $0.99

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=RT4516R

So which size fuse do I need?

How much wire should I order to go from the battery to the back wall of an '03 extended cab silverado?

Should I get a different color wire for ground? Obviously the wire that is grounded to the floor is the ground, but for other people's sake?

Also, this is the battery terminal I have:

Do I need a Battery Terminal like this? http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=BT-104P

Let me know if I missed anything and thanks in advance

IMO... oversize the main power. Nothing less than 1/0 to the amps, then use a 1/0-4ga. distribution block to supply the amps.

I used KLM wire, good stuff, plenty flexible for a 1/0 wire.

I'd get 25ft... then you can use it to the big 3 as well.

Fuse size? I use a 200A on my 1/0, then use a distribution block that is fused as well.

If you want a battery terminal, you need a side post style one.

So something like this?

I only have 1 amp BTW, so I think 4ga is more than enough...

until you upgrade.

but with the stock electrical system I have, 1/0 will be pointless. No gains will come because the weakest link is the alt. and lack of "big 3 upgrade"

Which is why you will upgrade the electrical system too (once you upgrade the system [which will eventually happen as well]), and you will do the big 3.

warning: if you use the knu kit, the turn-on wire with the rca's suck. i tried it twice and both times, the amp didnt turn on. run a separate wire.

alright thanks for the heads-up

I already have the RCA's and remote wire ran and I just need all wires to upgrade my 8ga set-up to 4ga or 1/0

Do you guys think I should get 1/0 right now in case I ever do upgrade? I hate having to buy new stuff whenever I upgrade, but then again I don't want too big a wire to cause problems. That won't happen right?

so I would get enough 1/0 wire to also do the Big 3?

In order to reach full potential of my electrical system I would just need a bigger alternator, right?

get the 1/0, it'll tuck right into the little channel GM so thoughtfully provided along the sail panels! i have memphis 1/0 in my truck, that shit (memphis) doesn't bend worth shit, and it is hidden away nicely.

you'll need a GM side post battery adaptor, unless you go with a yellowtop, which i will recommend. then you can use the terminals you linked too. those are the exact terminals i have used. and with jsut 1kwrms, a yellow top, and the big three, yoru factory alternator will be just fine. it's a minimum 105amp (like mine) or if you are lucky, you have the 145amp one. in either case, the 1k won't be a big deal with the B3 and yellow top. i run a big belle in my truck (55x4 adn 1100x1) and have no issues.

Does anyone know of another GM side post battery adapter? knu is out of stock right now and I don't see myself getting a yellow top because I just bought this Everstart a few months ago and it was like $80....

I have the 105amp alt, I wasn't lucky enough to get the 145
