RE + Fi = fire

Recommended Posts

I had it running off a crossfire 4000d at 2ohms, and I know it wasn't clipping.

4000W x1 into 2 ohm

What kind of recone did you get a BTL recone ?

If anything less i don't think a BL/Q can handle that much....

Dude, if you only knew.

Thats all I AM A say.

I hate hybrids

The parts are pretty damn close to MT parts so its basically an RE MT with a Fi dustcap.

And that amp is probaly putting out 2500w-3000w after box rise and the eletrical system its on right now.

Pretty damn close? LOL... Try teh same.

Well there is one difference, and the Fi parts were supposed to have better leads.

How did the signal look on an o'scope?

:puzzled:

Like a monochrome mountain range with the tops cut off the mountains, and the valleys all filled in.

:D

Explain to me how clipping did this then? The coil still looks fine.

Clipping gets teh tensils hot... Thus maybe causing a fire?

Just cause teh coil looks fine, does that mean it is fine?

You got pwnt anyway you look at it.

I don't know if you had a badly clipped signal. But neither do you, unless you've put a 'scope on the amp's output.

Obviously something put a lot of current into that driver, and it's likely to happen again...

There's something to look forward to.

Well I scope it when I have the time, but as far as I could tell it wasn't clipping since I set the gains with a DMM. Surprisingly the crossfire survived and I thought thats what went at first :P

A DMM won't tell you what the shape of the waveform is - and it won't show you how much current is actually going into those leads. All you're getting is a voltage reading that may hide a more serious problem.

Well I haven't changed any of the settings on the amp or deck so we will see if it was clipping when I hook it up to a scope.

God i had a brain fart...

Anyways thanks ford30.... I totally was hypnotized with all those hybrid words floating around LOL..

God i'm an idiot...
