RE MT 18 Box Build

Recommended Posts

Doing this for a guy on CA.com. Going into an Envoy with charcoal gray interior & woodgrain trim, so I'm trying to match it up, but I've never seen the vehicle.

9^3 @ 35Hz with 106^2 of port. Sub will fire up. Double baffle, window bracing, and 45's in the corners. Some dummy got ahead of himself and started painting before doing the sub cut out. Wooden rings will extend port openings and surround sub.

Couple of finished pics. NOT show quality, but a nice street beater box for sure. I painted it with a 9" roller, but the flash is showing some streaks on the right side. You don't see them normally though.

That's sweet!

Why, may I ask, did you decide to go with dual ports? Do you use the 1/2 single width and length? I haven't found an online calc for that yet.

That's what the guy wanted. I would have preferred to do a single port along the bottom as it would have been easier.

I normally use subwoofertools for most boxes, but had to do this one the "hard" way. I used this calculator:

Once you have the port size you calculate how much space it will take up inside the box, then go from there.

Good info, thanks!

Ask and ye shall receive. It's finally done. I wasn't happy with how it looked with the big bare front, so came up with this last night. Think it looks pretty nice now. Let me know what you guys think. I hope the owner will be happy. I made about $1 an hour on this build, but had fun

Flash tends to wash things out, but it was too dark without it.

Guy came to pick it up today, so I took a few pics of it installed. Matched the interior pretty nicely.
