Tweeter Placement

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of my girl's system install in her '01 civic and am having a tough time deciding were to place the tweeter

IMG_6121.jpg

The tweeters are too deep to flush mount on the door so I would have to surfarce mount if I put them on the doors or I could flush mount them in the kickpanels. Or maybe flush mount in front of the door handle? What do you guys suggest

Also can start build log pics but this is a fairly simple install with f/r comps, two amps, one 12", 100 sqft sound deadening and cd player. Do you guys want the log?

Get some double sided tape. Install them in various locations, and see how the stage is.

I'd expect mid way up the a-pillars... but every make of tweeter, and car will be different.

I used to have my tweets on the dash firing up off the glass.

Made a HUGE soundstage, but that's not a generally acceptable place. But I tell you it sounded great.

I had my tweets on the door panel next to where ur ac vent is firing towards the passenger and driver. it made a big dofference. I dont know how you would wire them on that car as my factory tweets were on door panel. Sounded good though

Driver's side goto same treatment. Car is still apart but everything is dynamated and rear comps are in as well. Subs/amps/HU next weekend

Also looking for a suggestion on an enclosure. This system consists of a ZED Gladius running front and rear sets of 6 1/2" CDT classics and a Fi SSD 12" running off a ZED minlith.

Would you guys suggest a ported or sealed enclosure?

Ported or sealed is pretty subjective, personally I prefer sealed enclosures but you may want the extra sauce from the port.

I am curious as to what other tweeter locations did you try?

honestly I didn't try any. At the end of the day this was based mainly on looks and theory. Less then a foot from mid, dash not seperating mid/tweet (like on sail panel or a-pillar) and not on floor like kick panels. I hate to say it but time was a factor as well. I only have next weekend to finish the install and can't work at night. If time was permitting I would have rather built a pod and angled them to face the seats but I didn't. If this sounds like ass I may do that in the future.

600w isn't going to push the SSD.

I have ~1000w to my copper D2 SSD and it's wishing it had more.

And this is what I'm planning with the sub and amps. This will facing inside the car (instead of towards trunk) and I plan on sealing off the trunk as well as I can

What do you guys think.

Finished wiring and hook-up. Sounds great. Very solid hitting. This subs sounds great. Output is real good especially with rock. Still need to wall off the trunk behind the enclosure. More then enough bass for her but there is quite a bit of cancellation. I'm expecting the wall to take care of that.
