What kind of box do you suggest?

I am getting 2 Fi SSD 15's and I am wanting to get some pretty deep bass out of them. So what kind of box should I get to get the most out of them? If ported, slot or round? tuned to how many hz? Thanks in advance

What's your definition of 'pretty deep' bass?

Sealed will get you the lowest extension...

Ported!

I was a sealed fan for many years....MANY years...then I built a slot port box for my BTL. The build was just as easy, and the design wasn't very difficult.

The output is WAY better than sealed, and the SQ doesn't diminish at all.

So you can't listen to SUPERSUPER low stuff...but 30hz up is dandy!

I will rebuild my SSD box in a week or three and it will be ported. I'm happy with sealed...but i know ported will sound better and get louder.

aight then , sounds like you want a ported enclosure . Slot (square) will work as your not chasing tenths on a sensor. Not sure about the tuning though . I would say the low thirties , but I haven't really played with the ssd's much

Ramos is correct. Could tune low, 34hz for example. I like the SSD with the copper coil option.

id port it @ 28Hz and put a lotta power too it:)

i did a single 12" RE xxx in a 2.25cf ported @ 28Hz & it was wild you sounded like trying too talk through a fan...

he was using a 1500d mono-block

tuning at 28hz, you might as well go sealed. to be honest, i hated my 28hz box. while jsut about every sub sounded good in it, output was lacking, and the bottom end wasn't all that reinforced compared to a larger sealed box.

personally, i'll never tune below 34hz in car again. seems to be a magical number as far as sq and output is concerned. it always seems to offer a nice mix of both.

I would go sealed, with as large of volume as you can build. The high Qts (d1=.57, d2=.52) indicates that this woofer will favor a sealed alignment. Surprisingly, Fi recommends a ported box even though the T/S parameters are counterintuitive to this.

Well these subs are going in the trunk of my Taurus..... and someone told me I would not have enough airspace to commidate them. I am not sure though as this person is one of those cocky type audio enthusiast. So If this is true, should my box be tuned to a different setting? When I get the enclosure built should I have it made to where it is in a "V" shape or any other type of shape? Or will a basic enclosure be sufficient enough? If there is going to be any hesitation with trying to get 15's to work in the car I will go with 12's. Thanks.
