no, but if you can program it to do 20 band eq and timealgnment, i don't see why you couldn't also make a program to to crossovers.

two sets of two. problem is there is no sub out or sub control. if your just going to do and active fron stage it will work. i'm probably going to use some kind of audio control for mine though.

Not saying for sure it won't do it, but I spent a few moments on the site and really don't see cross over capability. Sort of looks chinsy as well, if I was going that route I just use a carputer and touchscreen anyways.

do either the Pioneer deh p780mp or the deh p880prs have the ability to control a 2way + sub active setup.

If I had a choice to do it all over again I would go with the alpine pxa-h701. It is a crossover and eq all in one.

I have the eclipse 8455 but it only allows me to do 4 speakers and a subwoofer, I am running 6 speakers and a woofer. I have my tweets and mids in the kick ran off one pair and my tweets in the a-pillars ran off the other set and it works great. Not as great as Jeff's camaro and his alpine pxa-h701 though. I am looking for a used one at the moment. Would love to get a used one with the controller.

Ok, so I just ordered CDT 6.75" M6 Mid's, and CDT DRT-25's tweets, for my front (and only) stage.

A buddy of mine is a rep, so I went with him.

alpine pxa-h701

How do you set the EQ stuff ?

And DO you NEED to get the ALPINE RUX-C701 to control the thing or will a deck with Ai NET input do it ?

You need a capable headunit. Only some are... and they all have toslink outputs. (i.e. IVA-D310)

The manual outlines this, and if the unit is capable, its manual will specify that it can control the PXA-H701.

You set the EQ stuff using the controller, or capable unit.

thanks Aneon

I been searching around (I have a CDA-9857 alpine with AiNET)...

On my headunit it has a switch for the AiNEt labeled EQ/DIV or NORM

In the manual it doesn't come right out and say "this unit can control the pxa-h701"

but it does mention some retarded chit like this WORD FOR WORD

When an ALPINE Ai-NET compatible digital audio processor (PXA-H701) and a DVD Player (DVE-5207) not compatible with Ai-NET are connected, set Digital AUX to ON to enjoy 5.1 -channel surround.

and in the rear it doesn't say the exact model but it does say this (the picture portion of the installation)

19. AiNET connector

Connect this to the output or input connector of another device (equalizer, HD radio module etc) equipped with AiNET.

Crutchfield says i can

http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/c...mp;i=500CDA9857

but you know how that goes LOL

Some people say can't some say can

some called alpine and they said can

some called alpine and said they say can't

WTF gives

Thanks...

You can change presets on the H701 with it, but not make presets. You need a controller along with your headunit to really utilize it as a tool.

I know with Jeff's headunit he can control it, but it is one of the top of the line dvd pieces from a year or two back.

Jeff's is not the 9857. The DVD units can usually do a much better job,.

Called Alpine tech support....

I asked for the senior tech in charge to make sure i get the most accurate answer...

apparently i need to buy the RUX-C701 as the CDA-9857 can NOT control the h701 settings period...

the only thing the deck can control on the H701 is turning it off and on as well as bass/treble/fader/balance that's it everything else will need to be done via the controller...

Damn that's a pretty penny if i want to use that

Actually it is my understanding they misinformed you. Unless of course the 9857 is the bastard stepchild, but it is my understanding that you can change from one preset to another with the headunit but do no setup as I stated before. The 9857 is sort of a joke for a headunit anyways. Compared to their older and soon to be offerings it really doesn't live up to the Alpine namesake IMO.

The controllers get sold used pretty cheap regularly...

helotaxi said the 9887 has bass engine pro. i'm pretty sure he's right. go for it since it can do 3-way active.

I don't think the 87 will control the H701 very effectively; however, I am not sure. On the same note you don't really need the H701 if you have the 87 since the crossovers and things are in the headunit. The H701 will be a lot more flexible, but you can get the job done with just the hu if you have a good one.

The only real headunit control of the H701 that is worth anything are teh screen units.

Yeah I like the 9887 and would probably pass on the h701...

The reason i was looking at the 87 is the same thing you both mentioned.... 3 way and 7 band eq along with bass engine pro.

I figure that deck along with my sundown 100.4 (crossovers) would make for a pretty solid sounding system...
