adding a second sub, but have a question

Recommended Posts

right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?

Theory is 6dB total. 3 for double the cone area on the same power, 3 for double the power. Reality will be somewhat less than that.

id hope, especially for all the electrical upgrades required on top of what i already did lol. for now i might just add a second BTL then go from there, that way i wont have to do any immediate electrical upgrades.
