good mids/highs speakers and componenets

Ok, well...here this goes, hopefully yall can help. My current truck has 6 6x8's in it by RF, the power series. Gets loud. My new truck, on the other hand, is set up for some components. I will also be making a custom console to allow room for more speakers. What is a good brand that gets loud as hell and can stand up to the 15" BTL's I will be pushing. Also, what size speakers should I put in the custom console??

Im fond of the AA 6.5 mids, but we wont have more of those to go around for a little while. For the money, they simply cant be beat. I use them in just about everything.

I really like Kickers ss30 tweeters. They are some of the nicest I have heard and used in a while.

It seems that the good old Vifa car tweeter is now discontinued... Seas got rid of their good one this year as well...

Custom console?

From what it sounds like, getting a good stereo image is not a top priority here.

Go with something cheap? Horn tweeters?

The AA's should blend well with the sub. They can be crossed over pretty low to help have a seemless freq response. A pair on each side would really be kick butt.

IMO running two drivers playing the same frequencies is a pretty major mistake in any install.

While I normally would agree... finding (or fitting) a single mid/midbass that can keep up with the sub section he is thinking about simply isnt going to happen. A pair of mids usually isnt much of an issue if on the same plane and close together. I cant think of any install I have done where it has been an issue, but I could see where it would/could be. I am finding more and more people that are foregoing a spot on sound stage for more output. It is tougher to get them both.

At that point having good clean sound Id say for this install is more important than a razor sharp sound stage. This is one output oriented.

Agreeded, but you can get them for sub 300 on ebay or if you shop around the car audio forums. SLC's are nice

so, would it be better if a put a set of components in each door up front, one set in the back...and maybe something like some 8" subs for better midbass in the console? I am new here, tryin to keep up with an understanding. I know Scott is right though, this is gonna be more of an overall output monster system meant to get real loud rather than one that is gonna be perfect sounding like a sound stage. I just want to do what is more correct and make it sound as good as possible. So, I am up for all the suggestions if it will improve the overall sound.

Funny how many companies offer dual mid-bass' in a single component set then?

BTW to get stupid loud, try some horns I will be switching to horns and dual-midbass very soon.

Image Dynamics makes a set of full body and mini horns.

They're not as easy as a regular component set to install, yes, but doable with a little bit of research...and they might even give you the chance to have a somewhat-normal soundstage We're talking efficiencies around 103-104dB per watt...give them a solid 35W or so per side and I doubt you'll be able to stand it at full volume.

Which horns are you looking to run? Two of my audio friends are elite team members of image dynamics so I can bug them about how much power compression horns can handle, but I know the camaro that has them gives them only like 18 watts and they get loud. You might just have to get them in the 8 ohm impedance to lower the power they receive.

Ohh, and when installing compression horns you want to aim them at your stomach, not your head.

55watts is at 8ohms lol, their website says they can handle 60rms.
