Ford Explorer Worklog

Recommended Posts

This is a never ending work log that I should of thrown together months ago, but am too lazy to do. I call it work in progress because I feel as if it can never be finished. Most of it is done with, but there is always something I can do to better my install. This is my second install in my Ford Explorer, the first being a single 12" RE SX ported to 32Hz in a 3 cu. ft. box. It was powered by a RE 12.1 amp. Enough about my old install lets get back to my pride and joy.

My new set-up is:

(2) Two 12" Fi Q

Orion 2500d

CarPC

400W inverter for Playstation

Lilliput Touchscreen

My favorite part about my install is my false floor. I wanted to design a floor, so I could easily get to my CarPC and take out if needed, and just overall ease of use. I wanted it to function well but just not be so complicated that things would break. If you have any ideas of things to change or things you think would work better, please let me know. I am very open to suggestions and love to hear how others would of done it.

Thanks Aaron.

BTW you wouldn't happen to still have that Orion 4 channel amp would you? If not, do you know where I can pick a used one up from?

I sold one, and I still have another, its in my 300 at the moment. It has never been past 1/8 gain, seriously. Only probelm is a scratch on the top of the amp.

My plan was to go with two smaller ZED amps, the Orion is a ton of power and eats up a bunch of my trunk in my car.

Is it the 4004 or the 8004? I'm been wanting to get some components for the doors and do some upgrades with the speakers, and I'd like a matching amp to my Orion 2500d.

But at the same time, I do not know as much about the 4 channels and 2 channels so I guess I need to figure out what I need first. I just remember you had a matching amp.:)

You do realize that you don't have the subs screwed in all the way right? :)

Screws are supposed to go all the way through the gasket to the basket and hold it tight there...not sit on top of the gasket.

Looks good though

Wow I must be an idiot then. Haha...

I'll get some other pictures, I need to do a little cleaning and then I'll get some of the Ex as well.

Thanks for the heads up Nick, never really realized that.

BTW: It seems like if I continued to screw them down like you say, it would look kind of odd having eight holes in the gasket, right?
