Holes in the Cone

Recommended Posts

So I got bored and took my Orb Audio sub out of its' enclosure and noticed holes in the cone down by the spider. Why is this? Iv'e never seen it before or heard of doing this. Anyway, Here are some pics of this little bad boy. It's not a bad sub for an 8". It acts more like a 10" or 12". I wish the extension was a bit lower but this is just my game room setup.

Here it is next to my AA assasin that I've still yet to install. Not sure IF I want to build an enclosure for two of these in the game room or put them in my wife's car. Decisions...decisions!!!!!

I'm gonna guess that the holes are for voicecoil ventilation and to keep the air under dustcap from affecting the Qms.

Ventilation was my first guess. This little sucker has a pretty soft suspension and claims to have a 111db max on it. I must say that it can get pretty loud considering. :thanx:
