Quick Question

Recommended Posts

Shawn is selling three 12" X's first and foremost Scott....DO you have the parts to build me a fourth one in a Dual 4ohm config? I know at one point you said the parts were going to be rolled into AA and if I cant get a fourth then my plans will change.

If by chance you have a fourth how much space do these subs require ported? how small of a box I could get away with? I also am willing to use aero ports if that will cut down on size any.

Will I see better bass race results with four 12" X's as opposed to two 12" SSD's running off the same 1500 watt amp? Amp will be determined once I choose the subs but I am looking at the Kicker ZX series.

I was going to go with the Q's but with the recent change to World Finals for DB Drag and one of the hubs for finals being my hometown I am ready to start a build for bass race and start getting some points.

Yes, I have the parts to build another one (and PLENTY of parts for recones or more subs after that).

Id say that you would have more output potential with the (4) X12s vs a pair of SSD12s... but the pair of SSD12s would fair better with the power you have available. Xs were (are) rated at 250W. They are a solid entry level sub that works well in ported or sealed and sounds great.

Cant go wrong with the ZX. Kicker amps work great in many of our Bassrace setups.

You could run them in as small as 1.75 cuft each tuned to 33 or higher... But a that point, Id defer to a pair of SSD15s in the same overall space.

Dont even get me started on Wayne and his antics :angry2:

Thanks,

Scott

Basically the 4 12" X's will cost around the same as 2 15" SSD's. I havent done the exact math but best guess puts either option within $50 of each other.

The SSD's with an option or two and a single Kicker 2500 sounds kinda sexy to me now that I think about it.

Will the SSD's handle 1250 a piece with the options available? (including the newest options?)

I wont get you started on the DB Drag thing...I just read all eight pages of the thread on termpro and after seeing how some of those people broke it down I am on the fence but falling to your side......initially I was all gung ho for it, now I am not so sure.

That is a stout amp for those subs. With the newer options, Im sure we can get them there for your application.

I really think Wayne just shot himself in the foot (if the amount of major competitor vehicles that went up for sale immediately after this announcement is any indication). Introducing drastic points changes this late in the game is going to really screw people. Not too mention all of the issues you will have with 6 different places trying to correlate things together, no real centralized judgint to review or make a commitee type judgement (and we all have noticed that everyone judges differently), the fact that either the US or Europe will be doing this at well past midnight, that linking all of this together via the net has the ability to go majorly fubar... oh well. While the CA finals is MUCH closer to me, Ill be in FL (for the 3rd time this year... whats with that???). FL simply will be "the" show to attend. Not sure what it is about that state, but they are monsters for bass. Must be something in the water :)

I think the big jump in points is what caused the larger part of the uproar. The sheer logistics of the event is insane. and I feel really bad for the street guys having to go against panda's for Finals. I agree that DB Drag has to change in order for the sport to evolve and succeed. I think this change was too drastic, too soon. Some of these Florida boys were born with the ability to get loud....
