Thats not a problem but I just wanted to get scotts input on a few things as I am possibly looking to change subs but then again may not due to the new options you guys came out with for the ssds so I wanted to know should I get a recone for my subs as I have D1 copper coils FIRST PERSON to own them I believe and would like to get d2 coils but im not sure if I want flatwind or copper still as I love the way it pounds the lows. My main concern is that I want to do bass racing this season but I need a nice solid 12" setup so im torn between sticking with my ssd's or going with the Q's. I don't want an all out spl setup because I like S.... Q..... L.... setups and the ssd's are very prominent and haven't let me down. But I kind of max them out with my enclosure burping 57 hz at 140.6 and music with 140 which I thought is kind of strange but im still new to this and will test some more next week. I am looking to join the 139.9 class but I need to hit mid 40's to really be in the 139.9 class and I wonder if running my amp saz-1500d at .5 ohm will help the ssds produce more spl giving I get recones for them and get the upgraded parts. The subs are currently wired down to 1 ohm with the d1 setup.

So do I stick with the ssd's and upgrade or go with the q's..

I like S..... Q.... L.... so keep that in mind and I figured builing a larger enclosure could help me achieve a better score as they are currently in a box 2 cu ft per chamber tuned to bout 33-35 hz can't remember which bout somewhere in that area...

So please help this competitor out as im looking to get serious with competing but I need the proper setup..

Well, considering your tuning its not too strange that you arent burping much louder than you are bassracing. Youd gain a bit if you tuned 53-54 Hz range for burps... but seeing as you are going bassrace (which I find much more fun that straight SPL) thats definitely not the ticket.

I am not going to tell you to run the amp at .5 Ohms as it is really tough on coils and leadwires and produces quite a bit of heat (given that you are producing more current than voltage to get your power). As others have mentioned, its not always a good choice for daily to run below 1 Ohm. Right now are the subs reaching mechanical, thermal, or both limits? This will give me a better idea of what route to take to either change coils and upgrade the suspension, or simply call it a day with the SSDs and have you step up to the Qs.

Thanks,

Scott

I don't think they have reached their mechanical or thermal limits but I wouldnt have an idea of how to tell either.

So in this case im not sure what to do aside from building a larger enclosure as I would like to build the most optimal enclosure for both the subs and for bassrace.

Are they bottoming out, sounding like they are straining and hurting, or stinky like they are on fire?
