i just wanted to know how long a 15" magnum can last at full excursion

Depends on the frequency used and the size and type of enclosure the subwoofer is in.

FYI: Most people won't be able to bring their Magnum's up to full excursion - especially in a sealed box. Just ask Steve. I showed him full excursion on our test bench and he about crapped his pants.

i have a question...

on my amp now (power acoustik pos..980 watts at 4 ohms supposedly), i have the level all the way up...and the magnum gets crazy loud. i dont have any bass boost on, just the main power gain set all the way up. im scared that if i turn my headunit up too loud (bass on 0), i would damage the sub. i doubt i could do that with the amp, but i look at the sub and it moves like crazy (i highly doubt its a full excursion). now, my bigger question is...how much louder would it get with a hx1500d?! it's so loud already...can it possibly get louder with a better amp? and could that possibly blow it? im a newbie and confused about knowing the full excursion and blowing it up...word.

ok say if i had a ported box thats 4 cu and tuned to 30 hz and im running 2000 watts to a 15" magnum. then how long do u think it will last

Turn that gain down son

Get that Hifonics brutus, and chill it on the gain..and yes...you can get it to full excursion with about 1000w...not hard to do..just have to do with an amp that actually does rated power

If your electrical system was powerful enough to run a small city (what it would take to actually supply a 2k watt amp to actually do 2k watts for that long) with solid sine waves, it would probably last a couple of minutes. If you're playing music, probably 30 minutes. 2k actual watts is a LOT of power, and it's only a 3" vc. in the Mag's. If you're playing around with that much power...buy another Magnum.
