Component System

Recommended Posts

Hello guys/ladies, I have been buying peice by piece for a Diy active component system, Right now I currently have:

Headunit- Sony Cdx-Mp70 ( yes its sony but it will work for now)

4 Channel- Power acoustik amp

Mono Amp- lanzar Vibe1800D

Electronic Crossover- Coustic XM6

Okay so for so good I guess, I am not too sure what to get for mids I am looking into Dayton RS series as well as Mach 5 Mli-65's. Mark at mach 5 is sending me some Mli-65's to test and do a review, I'll have to see if I like the way they sound..

As for the tweeter I have a pair of Dayton ND20FA's coming from partsexpress on Wednesday the reason I ordered these was becuase of all the reviews they recieved, I also have a pair of the Seas Neo's coming as well from solen. Again I'll have to listen to both sets of tweeters to see which I like best..

My question is: When installing Diy components in kickpanels should the tweeter be Flush mounted or Wedge mounted?

My reason for this post is becuase I am looking for any suggestions that might help me through my purchases..

Thank you

Justin

If you can get away with building them flush mount I would.

Thank you M5, you have been great help.. Ya I wasn't sure what would be best, so flush mount it is.. Can i also ask, what subwoofer would work best with either of these mids? I was looking into maybe getting 3 mach5 10inchers or maybe a single 12 dayton titanic but I don't want bass to overpower the mids I'd rather have the bass and mids complent eachother..

Thanks Again

Justin

Either combo will complement them fine, but if it were me I'd take the 3 10's over that 12. I assume the mids are going in your doors? Make sure you don't skimp on the deadening and install if you want them to complement each other the best.

I wouldn't heed shimano/falcons advice either. You really shouldn't be running another set in the rear off the same crossover either. Having anything in the rear collapses your sound stage and if you do a good job on the installation of the front pair you won't need a second set for midbass reasons.

Okay Thanks again, as for the mids they will be going in inforced Kickpanels from q-logic but I dended the crap out of them and also put some fibreglass in them aswell. I will forget about the mids in the rear all together, not many people sit in the back of my car anyhow.. I will also go with the 3 mach5 10inchers ported, since I listen to alot of rap.. Is there anyway I could fill in the rear deck ( the holes from the other speakers are still really visible) I was thinking maybe buy some carpet just to cover?

Thanks Again

Justin

I'd just use some speaker fabric or a grill.

Thank you demin, I have just got my tracking number for the Mli-65's yesterday and should be arriving here on Wednesday the 11th, I will be matching them up with the Seas Neo Textile tweeters. I also have to run some tests and review the Mli-65's as I promised mark I would. I also ordered 3 Maw-10's so hopefully they will blend with the Mli-65's for an overall setup..

Thank you and goodluck with your install aswell

Justin

DIYMA forum members mentioned that LPG tweeter cups can fit Seas Neos, if you do a slight mod to the center of the cup, so the tail fits in. Go check out Solen.

Or if you are careful with your circle jig you can just press fit them.

M5 that's true, i could press fit them but I worry since hearing that the wire terminals break really easly, I ordered a pair of the LPG flush mounting cups and see where I end up from there..

Thanks

Justin
