Nightshade 15" Pics

Yep, I've got a folded horn ready for it, it'll get an extensive workout to evaluate it for daily driving, when you guys get done with it and it comes to me. 4 SAZ-1500's on it daily in a folded horn will give any sub more than it deserves. I drive 45 minutes each way to work and back, so there will be plenty of time to get it hot, let it cool down, and go at it again.

The proto coil should be good for about 3000 watts RMS continuously for fairly long periods of time, 6000 watts for shorter bursts, and even more than that for "lane burps." The production model will be getting an even beefier coil, cone, and soft parts. If you do tear up the proto we'll call it R&D and keep improving the design based on what fails

Any chance on getting a different cone colour if you stick with the boob? Like black surround, greyish cone, black cap? Or any combo of those? The DD composite cones are so sexy, and stand out.

The cone is the "boob" style as of now.

This woofer is not related to FI Audio or Scott in any way. The BTL is a beastly woofer, but this one is not related other than the fact that it is also a very large SPL geared woofer

The cone is the "boob" style as of now.

Not sure on that yet. I am a fan of subtle cones but may investigate other options. This woofer is not scheduled for immediate release so changes may happen.

I really do like it, it looks bad ass, and should be mounted inverted just to show off the chrome, is the basket staying chrome? so even if i was mounted regularly you would still see some chrome, on the lip?

The basket is staying chrome for sure. The 12" prototype should be coming in with the black anodized top and back plates (basket is still chrome). At that time I will make the final call on which I like best, and will ask on the forum as well for opinions... the full chrome suprised me on how good it looks so it is very tempting.

Louder by perception, yes!, lol.

I guess if i buy some nightshade's they will keep jeff's 2 IDQ 15's (the only two chromed ones) company.

But I don't think "Nightshade" is a fitting name. More like "Nightmare"...for all of the neighbors who won't be sleeping at night.

I do testing in my basement (concrete filled cinderblock construction), inside a car, with over 1000 dollars in sound deadening applied. I can test well into the night and nobody hears anything

Haha sound deadening in your basement? What material do you use to cover the walls? I might be interested for my small bedroom so I can turn up the volume for movies late at night when everyone's asleep.

As for the sound deadening I meant in my car The little civic has roughly $1k in sound dampening. The basement simply has concrete filled cinder block walls, that really doesn't let out much sound.

MSRP is going to be around $649 on the 12" and $699 on the 15" model. There will probably be a pre-sale offer and, as always, dealers can be contacted directly for price quotes.

12" and 15" will be first. The 18" model will take more time and is currently not even in the prototype phase.
