FI at local SPL comp

Recommended Posts

just wanted to let yall know how our lil car audio club did at a local comp this night. we almost swept up the competition but we wound up taking 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

we were all in portwars/outlaw (weird classes)

second place was my buddy murk with a single RE MX 12 on an orion 2500D stock alt and bat. with 160.8

third was my buddy robert with a singl 15 BTL fully loaded on an orion 2500D stock alt and yellow top 159.9

fourth was me with a sinlg 18 BTL fully loaded with an orion XTR pro 2400 200 amp alt and 2 yellow tops 159.2 (we all played 43 hz tone)

first place was some guy with a wall of 4 L7 12's with a 162.*

another guy i knew won the legal truck class, with a single 12 Q on an orion XTR pro 1000 stock alt and bat 139.*

i must have some major elec problems because i couldnt keep my voltage up even with 2 bats. unless my alt is goin out. i did the big 3, anybody have suggestions as to why my voltage is dropping still?

so anyway we tried to rep FI the best we could.

scott, i need a big FI sticker, bout 20 inches wide give or take, how much for one?

thanks for the bad ass sub.

Although I would have liked to see Fi come home with the win, good job. And about the sticker, you will get a 12" one if you write a review, a detailed thread on your subs, and have over 20 posts.

Again, good reppin'.

Now that I think about it, i would actually looooove a bigger one. I dont know what it is about the FI logo, but for some reason i want it on my jeep lol...

Im thinking 12x24in....maybe even a little larger

Jonny

First off I am utterly impressed with you and your buds... to post those numbers with stock electricals is pretty insane....

You can add all the batts you want but if your alt can't handle the load you're gonna have voltage drops....

My suggestion

Email this guy for a price quote for an Iraggi alternator..

[email protected]

Also tell your friend as well... I can almost guarantee you'll beat the chit out of everyone at the next competition...

Nice scores. I'm not familiar with mic placement in these types of comps- where were you putting that? Was that on the T/L?

Thanks, and great job.

port wars the mic is placed in or near the port opening

oh sorry jonny I read the description wrong i thought it was stock (i was just skimming to see the word HO or Iraggi)

I would try another run of 0/1 to the rear batt. Try to rev your car when the bass hits and see if voltage drops.. If it s ok then you may need to upgrade the alt to one with more AMP output near idle (dominik has different HO alts if you let him kno he will price quote you for those)..... If it still drops even when at high rev I would just upgrade t a 300 amp...

Wait does port wars allow you to run your vehicle ?

i do rev the engine to about 2K rpm my voltage still drops and beleive it or not the rpms drop when the bass hits. and yes i did charge my bat before the comp, only becuz its hasnt been holding a charge lately. i only have one yellow top under the hood. the second one was borrowed at the comp.

oh and as far as port wars goes, this was just a lil local comp, the guy only had two classes, legal and outlaw/portwars. ive been trying to get the guy to separate it all but hes hard headed only the legal class was separated by sub size. portwars was an open class. and he limits the rpms to 2K

i know i cant do big numbers legal in my truck especially with a box tuned to 31 hz. it also has alot of area, so thats y i ran portwars.

i hope this thread dont get moved.

try running some better batteries. Kinetik makes some very good ones. maybe two 2400 will work out fine

i just ordered a yellow top group 31. i talked to a guy i know and he suggested the 31 and said it was better than the kinetik

thanks for all of the suggestions

awesome numbers.

i found a probe that i might try to shove my two 18s in and compete with.

it should be fun and i can expect decent numbers after all the cabin room is consumed by MDF. 4000 wrms minimum...
