BTL help

Recommended Posts

as i had anticipated. Of course i still need to upgrade to the big 3, and running a bxi1606d at 1ohm. It's in my 99 Denali and i made the box to 7.5 cu ft tuned to 32 hz. I double bffled all the walls to a total of 1.5 inch thick. Do i need to upgrade to 0 gauge wiring? A bigger amp? I noticed that the BTL was SUPER stiff! Mayb i need to push 3000w to it instead 1600

well, imo a bxi 1606 probably is about 1/2 of what a btl could handle...

w/o big 3... your probably lookin @ about 1000rms max., and a btl is rated @ a conservative 2,000 rms.

Do big 3; 1/0 wire, HO Alt.., Batt., and a bigger amp... then you wil see deffinate improvements!

remember, meade is running like 4,000 rms to his btl's...

You def need more power to those subs. They are stiff because you are not even nearing full extension with the below RMS power.

Look at minimum 2k watts (preferable closer to 2.5k). If you are fully loaded, you probably will want higher... You may get away with a only doing Big 3 and additional batterys for 2-2.5k watts rms.

You may be getting 1200w out of that amp on a good day :).

hmm.. yah i knew i was undepowering them, but i didnt know that it would make such a drastic change. I had a 15" RE SE before this BTL and was running a power acoustik amp at 800w and that thing hit exceptionally well. Alot louder then my current set up.

So big 3 and a more powerful amp is whut i need to do huh....Can any of yall suggest an amp thats not too pricey, but will make my roof flex? I jus got my amp yesterday, i might have to sell it already, hah.

could check out the termpro forum if you're up for used. If you want new thats a bit different.

You could also get a 2nd amp like you have and put one per coil.

Other than that:

strapped sundown 1500s.

kicker 2500

rockford 2000 or 3000

there's a hifonics thor on ebay

also a massive 3000 on ebay

memphis mc2000d on ebay

If you have a price range I've been looking at some of these amps (and more powerful) a lot lately, so I could probably give some more suggestions.

Thry to find a used Crossfire VR2000D, Orion 2500D or a Kicker 2500. You might even strap another BXI 1606...

Is it a Dual 1 or Dual 2 Sub?

a guy is selling crossfire 4000ds on termpro.com forum for 750, might be able to talk him down to 700 shipped... can't hurt to ask. That'd be really nice.

Don't quote me, but I think 2 sundowns will run you around $800 new, but I'd ask denim.

I just checked and the massive is stable at 2 ohm, you need 1ohm, so that wont really work

The cheapest thing would be to get a 2nd hifonics, then put 1 per coil.

Carsound.com forum theres a guy with a SS 6500-that'll power your sub plenty:

This guys got some stuff for sale:

Just my favorite so far simply because of how I have one and I'm very pleased so far:

How would i go about wiring two amps to the dual voice coil? Would i simply just hook up positive to positive, negative to negative on each coil? Plus how will it sound? I've read a lil bit where people suggest not to do this, b/c it can lead to sub failure..??
