hmmm...

Midrange!

Recommended Posts

yeah i know this i the SI subforum but since i own a magnum and want to mae my whole system sound great with the magnum i figured id give this A SHOT.

im getting ready to slowly upgrade to a 3-way diy setup. i got midbass and tweets and i wanna make midbass in 2-way setup just the lows like 80-500 and then get a very nice midrange . partly becuase i wnana amke my kickpannels smaller and get a driver with nice off axis responce.

my limit is around 50 per speaker and i want 4-5.5 inch

through other forums ive limited down to these 2 but they arent helping me much decide which of these 2 i should get.

VIFA P13WH-00 5" WOOFER

AUDAX HM100C0 4" CARBON FIBER WOOFER

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=296-053

im really not expecting low end from these as i said, but i would like to get somehting that responds nicly up to a go0d 5k or so so i can cross my tweeter high to minimize distortion at high volumes, my tweeter is lpg26na.

in my opinion midrange is very very important to how a system sounds so i just want extreemly nice midrange.

anyone have opinions on these 2 midranges??

Well..first off...I'd cross your midbass more around 250ish...and with either of those Vifa's mating with those LPG's...I'd cross at 3-3.5k and let the tweets pick up the rest. Do a search on ECA for the LPG tweets...I believe a lot of people are crossing them at 3.5k.

What midbass are you using?

wel after lots of thought and research im gunna grab maxfidelity tweets, and the via p13 midrange. i got perless csc-x 6.5 for midbass but i might swap my bro for his vifa MG's ( 7 inch) for midbass.

whats the difference between crossing midbass at 250 rather than around 500 for midbass?

i wanna keep those midranges at around 250 lowest t think. i heard bass output isnt very good on them. so higher cross midbass prob the better. i duno ill find out when i get them :)

Smart move on the Max Fidelity Tweets...mine come in tomorrow :)

Just play around with the XO's...use some of those FR graphs for guidance..but don't depend on them too much..they don't represent too much in car...
