Maw 15" port area?

Recommended Posts

I have my maw in a 2.45net sealed encolsure, and while it gets fairly loud, i long for a bit more output. I was designing a new box for it, and came up with around 3.1ct net tuned to around 33hz. only problem is fitting a large port in there. was either planing on a single 4" aero port, or dual 3" aero ports. slot port will not work due to size. My problem is i dont want to take up my whole trunk, and the dims i have to work with are 33"wx16.75"hx14"d. i would prefer to have the ports firing toward the rear as well as the sub. Not alot of port area, but the sub is not an spl monster, and has a lower 13mm xmax. just wondering what people thought of that setup as far as port size is concerned.

thanks.

With those choices I would choose the dual 3". They will still be noisey, but at least you are pushing the noise down to lower freqencies.

Best,

Mark

What would be the smallest port that you would recommend Mark? Do you think a single 6" or dual 4" aeros would suffice? i have a plan to perhaps run a single 6" aero, or dual 4"s with a 90* adapter on it or them. only way to make them fit as far as i can see.

thanks for any more help you can give me.

If it were me I would do a single 6". Given its length and the fact that you will be faced with using an elbow, perhaps revisit the slot option. You will end up using roughly the same amount of space inside the box either doing tube or slot, so whichever way is easiest for you...

Best,

Mark

I agree with mark's recommendation of a single 6".

i have a plan for the 6" aero. :fing34:

It will use quite a bit less space than a slot port because of the wood thickness. diregarding the displacement of the wood they fill about the same space, and i was like well slot would be easier, than i figured in the wood. anyways i am looking to get a 6" aero in the next week or so as well as the mdf to build a box. coming soon 3.1-3.2 net tuned to 32-33hz. that is the best i can figure it too, with the changing in aero size(flaring). btw i got a couple of flex vids that i have to upload to my computer. 25hz ripples my trunk severly. lol. should have them up tonight or tomorrow.
