Hello, my name is Chris and shortly I will be starting up a new business.

Basically I will design and build custom loudspeakers enclosures, passives crossovers, and subwoofer cabinets.

I can also aid in the design of subwoofer enclosures, if need be.

I can offer a myriad of options when it comes to design, inside and out.

I talked to Aaron (Denim) about introducing my services to the folks on forums. The insiration behind this business is basically the ability to pick and choose exactly what you want in a loudspeaker set. Everything will be hand built by me with care, and attention to detail.

The passives there are only the LPF, and the glue on the enclosure is currently drying.

These should be finished rather shortly and I will post pictures as progress permits.

Since SSA is all about the DIY ideas and products, this is very fitting to our structure. Not to mention people have expressed interest in bringing on something other than just another sub or amp company. This could help expand our outlook for home audio. I personally do not know or have tried Chris' products yet, but they show promise and if they work out, would be a good addition to SSA.

I'd be willing to setup an audition for you, a little ways down the road once I get a few builds done.

This set I'm currently building is going to be a loaner set to some knowledegeable folks to review and audition.

If you'd be willing to give it a go I'd be willing to ship them out to you, although I don't have a specific time table right now.

I'm going to design and build 3 "standard" type sets.

They will consist of progressively better materials, such as choice of wood, crossover design/complexity and enclosure design/complexity.

These will be production type models.

Also, I will post all builds on my website, with descriptions and what not, so if someone were interested in a set from a past build I would build it for them.

The main goal of the business though is to provide options to the customer that aren't available in off-the-shelf products. Also, to do this in a manner which is specific, and direct to the customer. Basically the sky is the limit.

I don't really have a price list, being that the designs are all from scratch. Prices will be based on complexity of design and build.

Consultation will be provided on prices. I can almost assure you that I will not be able to offer rock bottom prices, but they will be reasonable. I would like my customers to consider the time and care put into each and every build.

Turn around time, just like pricing, will be based upon the complexity of design and build. If someone were to want a simple 2 way setup, with basic crossover networks, and a simple finish on the box turn around would be around 2 weeks.

More complex design could extend to 3-4 weeks at the most.

Keep in mind I do not stock drivers or any parts, really, so all supplies will have to be shipped to me. Although I live within 2 days shipping of Madisound and Parts Express.

I tested them out today, in the enclosure, with the passives. Everything is sounding great. Midrange and high end is absolutely beautiful. The Silver Flute is actually an impressive woofer, especially in it's price range.

Things still need cleaned up, and then on to laquer.

I cut the holes a little big on purpose, for easier fitting, this being a prototype I'm going to do a lot of playing around with it.

Haha, and yes, I do need to get a spiral upcut bit.

I really should've cleaned up the roughness before I took pictures.

Well, originally I was going to. But being that the drivers are black I thought black laquer would look sexy.

I'm a sucker for all black man, really I am. The next set I build will probably be stained, using MDF and veneer. Birch really isn't stain friendly, it tends to come out blotchy.

I've seen a veneer that looks like a patchwork of similar light colored panels (about 2" high by 6" long) and it looked amazing on a really high-end speaker enclosure. Only problem is that now I don't remember where I saw it and no one that sells veneers seems to know what the hell I am talking about.

That was probably the best looking veneer I have ever seen used though.
