no test results on the sundown 100.2 and 100.4?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious to see what kind of power these guys put out. I know they're hella underrated so I'm curious what kind of power they ACTUALLY do? 200rms per channel? or closer to 150? I'd love to have 150-200 a side running some DD 6.5" LTs :D would get retarded loud imo, thanks,

Tom

Not quite ridiculously underrated. The SAX-100.2 does around 125 per channel and the SAX-100.4 around 115 per channel.

Not sure of exact output, but I can tell you the 100.4 bridged is a beast :)

We clamped a 100.2 bridged at 4 ohms and came up with 482 watts at 14.4V. This is on a subwoofer also, not a bench test, but I've heard from 2 different people that the 100.2 was considerably louder than the 800 watts Class D amps that they replaced.

I like all the amps from Sundown, but price for performance, the 100.2 is a steal. We're going to put one bridged at 4 ohms on a DD 1015 sometime this week, and I'll post some observations.

I clamped my 100.2 a while back got some good numbers out of it but i think it was in the range of high 300's like 380 or 390 but i was actually getting some voltage drops which has been a issue for a while with my car. But as Rich said (stratusrt01) i for a fact will say that his amp was louder than my MTX 801D i had on my two 6's and when i put this amp in on the same subs big difference in sq and output

and what was amp/volt output? I'm guessing the imp rose a bit and it wasn't 4ohm seeing as how it was a sub and you'd have to run it like 1ohm resistive to get a 4ohm reactive load... so if you devide volts by amps you get the ohms your sub is actually playing at to get the 480 watts :D

DCR was 3.2 ohms. I specialize in building boxes with very low impedance rise, and although I didn't measure the reactive load, it was probably somewhere just over 4 ohms.

It's been a long time ago, and we were never really planning on posting the numbers, so I really don't remember what the amp/volt outputs were. We can do it again in a few days and get the actual numbers though.

I have a 100.2 bridged on 2 MAW-12's and its great. I think I could easily put one of my 1500D's on them and they would really come alive (or die..:D ) but with just the "little" 100.2 on there it really shows what a small setup can do. I love it and I too can't wait to get my hands on my DD midbass' and see what happens.

anyone ever tested the THD and distortion level on the wattage you guys talking about?

any numbers on that?

are they less than 0.1% ?
