Magnet Size

Recommended Posts

I was just curious about the specs on the lineup, specificly the Q.Maybe its just the picture but the Q18 looks like it has a small mag.Whats the weight of the whole sub?whats the mag weight in oz?Im sure its designed for that application but the BTL is the only sub that looks proportionate.Dont get me wrong everything Fi does I like.My eyes have a hard time with big sub little mag.Hope this makes sense to everybody!

Each series of subs no matter frame size uses the same motor. The BTL is compromised of 220oz slugs, while iirc (cant remember off of the top of my head sorry) the Q uses ~125oz, 20mm slugs.

There's no sense in making any 'bigger' motors than what we have now for the appropriate series of woofers, we are getting the preformance that we want out of them, and everybody that has them seems to be pretty satisfied :). You run into issues like saturation and many other things when you keep going bigger and bigger (not to mention shipping would be more...and at the end of the day it would cost the end consumer more money, for something that yeilds very little to no benefit at all what so ever). By using the same motor on a particular series of woofers no matter what 'size' you choose for them to be, it makes it much easier for us to customize the sub for you as well. It's no huge deal to turn a SSD 10 into a SSD 18, simple basket change and a recone and your good to go.

Hope this helps a little....

If it was possible i don't think it would be cheaper, but it could be.

Off my head I dont know what the price would be, but yes, you can send in a ssd 12 and have it built into an ssd 15, 18, or 10.

I coulda swore i posted the price up for that, hm...hard to tell.

Anyhow, the 15" ssd recone is 70 bucks for the standard one (aluminum is 20 extra, copper is 5 extra, can't do both) and a basket/gasket is ~32 for the 15 iirc.
