what are the pros&cons of 1 spider vs 2,stiff , compliant etc? I noticed the Q's have two spiders,BL's have three,BTL's have four. Please explain,I want some details thanks!

single spider 18Q = home theater use with ~700-750 watts at most to get to full excursion IB.

basic idea with car audio is to overbuild things because they tend to see more abuse then in a home or other atomosphere

The 18Q does have 2 spiders. But, when we modify them for home theater IB use, we only use 1 spider on them. All of our subs use 2 or more spiders for mechanical durability. Making 1 spider as stiff as 4 will crack and break. It is better to use multiple thinner/more compliant spiders to achieve the same desired compliance.

was using it as an example, stock Q's have 2 spiders. Home Theater / IB Q's have a single spider
