hey guys i'm going with 2 12" SSD's and I can't wait! I listen to mostly rap and hip hop. I'm wondering if I should get the Flatwind Coil, Copper Coil, and/or BP Power option. I'm willing to pay a little bit extra if these will help out my subs. I'm going to go with a pair of the Dual 1 ohms so I"m looking for an amp that puts out around 2000RMS at 1 ohm. Should I pay the extra bucks and get the three options? Should I put them in a ported or sealed box? I'm scared to go sealed cause I don't think it'll be loud enough. Please respond! Thanks guys!

Hey Koon

first of all copper coils can not be put together with the flatwind...

If you got 2K and a nice electrical to assure you can get the nice full 2k out of the amp then i would suggest the flatwind only...

If you want lower base with a bit more accuracy then the copper coil is for you..

If you are going ported and like to wang the crap out of them but want them wang even in the low end range i would suggest the BP Option and the copper coils...

sweeeet. I've decided to find a nice amp that pushes out around 1600-1800 RMS legit. Does anybody have any recomendations? I'm thinking about the Cadence ZRS-7500D. I'm willing to pay up to 500 for the amp alone but I'd like to keep it under 400. I really want a legit amp that puts out legit RMS. I think i'm just going to go with the flatwind option just cause I'm giving my subs right around recomended RMS and I don't think they'll need BP Power. I can't wait to order these things!!!!

Well, I had one 12" SSD (FW and BP) for a while then I sold it. And now I am back to the SSDs again. This time I am going with two 12" SSD (Copper and BP) and I will be giving them 2000 watts at 2 ohms. I have a honda accord and I will need to get a battery for the back to power the amp. I already have 0 gauge ready for an upgrade big 3 from the 4 gauge.

I was thinking of giving the subs about 1-1.5 cubes each, in a ported box tuned to 30hz or 33hz. Their graph looks good in WinISD at both but I think I like 30hz better. I know this is below the recommended size for ported boxes but I have some space constraints. I think they will be fine though. What do you think?

I know this is a little old, but I plan on upgrading to 2-12" Fi SSD's.

I already have a Kicker ZX 750.1 amp that I'll power them with.

I'll get a custom box made and a Optima Yellow Top for my trunk.

Possibly upgrade to a Sundown 1000D.

Yep, I have to agree, these are some very well built subs that surpass the standards of much more expensive mainstream subs in both build and sound quality and output. I have pushed my two SSD18's to over 3 inches of excursion and still have no mechanical noise presenting itself. Thank you Nick and Scott, for my small slice of heaven.

I am running a 6.75 ft3 box (per driver, after port and driver displacements), with about 48 inches of port area per sub (I realize it is not near enough, but I was limited by amount of wood on hand at the time.) It is tuned to 26 hertz, though box size limits my response peak to around 45 hertz. I absolutely love it, but I was wondering if the subs would sound better in a small sealed box. They seem to have a slight null in the 50-60 hertz range, would running a small sealed box help with this?

I was thinking of building a separate chamber sealed box to run, at 4 or 5 cubes per sub, to see how they sound, but that's a lot of wood to use, and a sealed box for two 18's is not easy to get rid of. So I though I'd ask first.

That was a pretty legit review I must say! This is also my first post on ssa, so, hi everybody!! I ordered a 15" ssd with BP and FW. Going with the ported box @ 33hz and a MB Quart Discus 1500.1D.. Cant wait! My previous setup was a 12" Phoenix Gold RSDC 12, and I absolutely loved it until I messed up the coils, along with blowing my Eclipse XA1200 amp. (Def. user error, had no subsonic filter at all). I was new to stereo equipment at that time, and still am. But thanks to all you guys, I am learning fast! Note to self: use Subsonic filter, and no bass eq!! :woot:

Try fiberglassing in this weather man... I buy more hardener than resin by volume lol but its the leaves blowing around that really piss me off. Anything for the sake of perfect sound

Awesome review man. I currently have two fully loaded SSD 15's on an 8ft^3 sup up/port up box on an Audioque 2200d. I absolutely love them. They are amazingly accurate for two 15's. I even gave the guy at the local store a demo and he was impressed with how accurate they were. Keep up the great work :)

EDIT: Dam didn't see how old this was. Wasn't paying attention cause I'm also writing a paper. Sorry guys. Multi-tasking isn't working for me.
