Want an SI Mag in Switzerland!!

Recommended Posts

1st of all, im new to the forum.. so hi everyone ;)

Had a demo of a 12" Mag two years back, in canada - the car was ratting at an SPL probably similar to the subs' output, so it wasn't exactly an ideal install and demo... however, i got interested, enough now to spring for one.

but i live in switzerland.

how do I get one? pls help... me wants MAG bad!!

I could offer my car as a demo-car.. :D :D

cheers,

Mike

"Demo car":

it has 2x10" midbass drivers in the doors, Exact MG10 fullrange upper end, (hopefully soon Audax Midrange and Ribbon tweets), an Alto UCS Pro processor, an embedded PC and homebrew USB-DAC for a source...

currently all parts are a percentage short of being installed:

but work is progressing nicely:

I'm sure Nick could work it out for you, it may cost a good bit to have a Mag shipped all the way to Switzerland though :)

with usps air mail it's going to be something like 100 - 150$ .

drop a message to [email protected] and tell him I sent you.

As nick said you will be paying a pretty penny for shipping.

Probably, but it will take +/- six to eight weeks.

x2

you just have to know how much one of those puppies weighs.

did you check to see if there are any customs taxes applied to woofers ? those can raise the cost even more.

I understend the issues with weight all too well...

I move to europe 2 years ago - ended up paying CDN100 for an extra piece of luggage to take 30kg over. Was BY FAR the cheapest method to take any sort of weight over..

hm. my company's HQ is in Palo Alto, CA... i suppose they could take one across the pond for me... shipping to Palo Alto wouldn't be too much, I suspect :) Will check that option out.

BUT: I really would suggest that SI tap into the european market. People have money to spend here, more so that in the states, and shell out unheard of amounts of money for mid-Fi (at best) products. The JL12W7 is the only very high-end sub available here, and costs quite a bit more than in the US...

what would you need in terms of manpower and money to get a european distribution setup?

yeah, in europe there aren't too many decent brands to choose from : re, jl, dls and gz.

i sure hope tc or si decides to join the european market and teach the xxx fanboi's a lesson

Just for reference, SI administration please read:

a typical **Internet Shop** Price for an RE XXX 12" (new generation) is EUR1000 and upwards, which translates to

**upwards of** USD1250 per 12" subwoofer.

Now think what would happen if you could get away with selling MAGs for, oh say, USD1000 apiece... AND convince people that you have a superior product.

I'll do the distribution... what do I have to do? Let me know. :D

Sell the mag at MSRP + Cost of shipment and leave it at that. Either way that is an excelent idea to expand your market to forien countries.

Oh and at $150 USD it is almost worth taking a trip to the states and happening to pick one up while you where over here and taking it back on the plane free. Then claiming a much lower price through customs and therefor paying much less tax. :D

it's much too expensive to go to the us and buy it. much cheaper and easier with a shipping company.

it may not be 150$. it may be less.

But you would also go on vacation. I'm talking about taking a vacation and you just 'happened' to pick an SI Mag up while you where over. ;)

Round trip plane ticket would probably be $4-$500 through a nicer airline in a nicer seating section.

the customs trouble at US airports is making US travel rather unattractive... the need for biometric passes doesnt help either :(

holidays in the US sound good, but doing so after being yelled at for no reason and made to feel like dirt by some lady on a power-trip does not..

just my $0.02. You may relay that to homeland security.. ow whoops, it already has been ;)
