diminishing returns in this case means as you make the wire bigger and bigger, you get less and less improvement - in this case, current flow.

most of the actual resistance in the power delivery system is the connections .....

I used welding 1/0 for my big3 and also the run from batt to amp distro block.

$1/ft can't be beat.

Call a local welding supply shop.

I got the same suff VJ did. It's more flexable than Weldingsupply.com wire and has a higher stand count. It's almost as flexable as hyperflex...though hyperflex is a deffanite winner and is thicker (kicker is almost 2/0 IIRC). It's good stuff, better than a lot of ''car audio'' wire IMO.

That's the same thing, and really the only thing strand count is good for in power wire.

No, the two are deffanitely different. Weldingsupply.com is only one case, this has two casses (a plastic inner and neoprene/rubber like outer) and the eBay stuff is by large more flexable. The strand count looks to be about the same, individual strands are the same size by eye so it is deffanitely the caseing that is making the flexability difference.

I have eBay left over and I got weldingsupply.com for my friend and I paid more for the weldingsupply.com wire. However weldingsupply.com is by the foot and I only needed 15 feet where as I have plans to use the full 50ft in my truck. I like the eBay stuff a lot more. I will get comparison pics up after I get off of work. The Towncar is here so I'm installing the head unit and running wire today. Hooray, my favorite part of installation...not.

True. I didn't think of the jackets and was only looking at the properties of the wire.

Good point.

Weldingsupply.com, as far as I'm concerned, still owes me $40.

Bastards.

x2

I've never had a bad experence with weldingsupply.com. However, as long as that guy is selling wire on eBay and I need a large ammount that is where I will go. Even after he rose his price it is still almost $1 cheaper than weldingsupply.com after they add shipping.

I geuss I kinda contradicted myself up there. No I think the strand counts are really close after looking back at it today. Just caught that. :)

lmao!

why

Because I sent them money and they never sent me product. That pretty much qualifies them as thieves to me.

I have no doubts other people were treated well; they just won't get my business again :)

Weldingsupply wont be getting much business from me anymore unless I need a certian ammount of wire and have 9 days to wait for it. Not because of bad service, just that there is cheaper, better quality elsewhere. I'm not impressed at all with their $2 terminal lugs that I can get for $0.60 at Home Depot.

Ebay has some 2/0 wire, so does welding supply, but wouldn't it be cheaper and better to just have 2 runs of 1/0 since I already have 1 run? Thanks.

If you already have one run of 1/0 might as well add a second or even third.

2 1/0 > 1 2/0 if your extra connections are low resistance.

i also bought 50ft of the welding wire off ebay a while back. love it, so flexible. and orange! with my name printed on it. definitely flexible and the double jacketing is great because i ran it inside my frame rail

then last week i found a guy wanting to see me some 4/0 at $2/ft and i might just buy it and save it for the next vehicle
