Need SPL oriented Driver(s)

Recommended Posts

Well my Frianken DP isnt working out to im selling my e12a, my BX1205D, and adding some cash in to see what i can come up with for an SPL driver.

I can budget around $350 total. I have a USamps MD2D for power (2000w@1ohm nominal) and i want to run in Street B.

This means i am restricted to two 12's or a single 15 (or x ammount of 10's but im not going to play that game). 2 12's need to be D4 or S2 and a single 15 needs to be D2 or S4. Or if its really SPL oriented it needs to be wired to 1ohm (or slightly lower) nominal in the end.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem as you. If you want a bargain theres a place auctioning Team RF 12's and 15s for around 200-300. I saw a 15 sell for 275 I believe the other day. It says that they're new with a 90 day warranty, but I'd that price I'd think they'd have to be refurbs. Still a good deal though, normally they're around 1500 a piece I believe, which is crazy imo. I need to find two 12s or one 15 also, but my budget is even less than yours, I only wanna spend around 200 at the most, so I guess I'm probably out of luck, i'll probably just use my 15 RL-p

I was reccommended once to run 2 DD 2512a's because in most cases, both of them would be better than have a 9500 series i guess. They are Dual 4ohm and I think you could get them new for that price. Maybe a single RE SX... but because of the price hike, you will probably have to find a used one. That is all I can think of at the moment....

You could run atomic, they are known to do well in SPL, but don't have the best reliabilty that I have seen. I think you might have to scour the classifieds.

New from atomic would be ~$250

with a budget of $350 and wanting to play in street b....(which is 4-8's, 3-10's, 2-12's or 1-15) you got some serious smart shopping to do...

honestly, i'd suggest a pair of the d4 12"L7's..especially if yoru note is above 50hz...make sure they are the 2006 models...loud and proud baby!!

i just 4 8L7's under the backseat of an 04 silverado xcab off a big belle....tuned about 42hz....scoot says it's the loudest underseat setup he's heard.....save teh one where we replaced the bottom part of the seat with the enclosure and glued the seat foam to the top of it....lol.....it housed two 12L7's in an OBS xcab chevyoff a mc1000d.....

Atomic AP 15 with many coil options (i will probably opt for dual 1.4)

L7 12's and i can see what my GF's uncle can do for me.

I have a 15 inch rockford punch power hx2 for sale if you are interested. It has dual 2 ohm coils. It is a pretty sweet looking woofer. I can send pics if you want.

power hx2's rock! but they aren't going to help him in street b...and be competitive...at least three people in street b doing a 54-55.....

12" L7's for the win here...just make sure they are the 06's....and they will just scrape by the 25" stacked i believe...

Calling down to Ft. Lauderdale today. On eBay they are skipping outside of my budget but i may be able to get the hook up. :)

I was thinking 3 10's if i can get them on the cheapness. More Cone area but i dont know how i will fit them.

Right now im not worried about being compeditive...just meeting my goal of 147dB :)

I also have the option of running a single solo X 12 in street A... 2000w is kinda starving it though.

MECA? No thanks.

Local 1x events rarely break 150dB in street C...and that is the only place im looking to do decent in. I wouldnt mind a few first places in a few 1x events...im not expecting to place in 2x + :)

I may throw some daily tuning in there and kick ass in the 130-139.9dB Bass Race class :)

man, and i'm not trying to pick on you, but james's teammate, greg mccool, owns the 130-139.9 class....

but hell, it's worth a shot...greg runs a pair of s12x's and two 9.0's IIRC. and he's got a secret..lol...
