Change of plans

Recommended Posts

The one I was looking at (9856) doesnt have a remote and well, thats pretty much it. Also, the display kind of sucked.

I have been saying ill get new speakers, amp sub, kick panels, etc when I actually own the car. But im only doing the HU once. And it has to be done right.

Thats the list I have to choose from. What is a good one? I was thinking Alpines, but I dont know, it looks like there are some other good ones.

I will NOT be amping any speakers yet. So for the first few months ill be using the power straight frm the HU. That means it has to have good power.

Has to have a remote, and have 'loudness' for a sub. I think thats what contols the sub.

Opinions please :D

Not sure what your price range is but the new Eclipse HU's are nice and also offer the features you are looking for.

I would pass on the Alpines because they are losing more and more features every year. The Pioneer 680mp will have plenty of features for you. That Pioneer has more tuning than that lower end Eclipse there. I have heard the new Panasonics are getting to be really nice and well built and as the Kenwoods are pretty nice too. Overall though, I would reccommend the Pioneer 680mp, I actually want one myself once i can sell off my Alpine.

Well, as nice as the 680mp is, the knob is kinda *ucked.. Its wobbly, and then stiff, and just kind of odd to work with. I tested on at the place in wenatchee. Maybe ill reconsider it though.

I typically don't care for all the bells and whistles on todays headunits ...... if you wanna use all of that time correction, EQ, crossover etc ..., you are pretty much stuck with it. Once you connect an external EQ to it, you lose the xover and most of the time correction features. I always thought the function of a CD player was to ...... play CDs
