Recommended Posts

ok so i do think im gonna just install my new x889 by myself instead of having someone do it for 55 bucks....now i was wondering a couple of things here....they sent the wiring harness to me for free but i wont need that one since ive allready had one installed before right???just the small one that comes with the deck i will use to the one already in there? will butt connectors and some elec tape be fine to do the job with?? Let me know anything else or any help if i forgot anything.

OK, now for the second diff part here.....ok i bought a dmm from home depot and i was trying to set my gains but it would never work,im gonna post a pic of it and you guys can tell me if its the right kind to do it with and what holes the wires need to be in and what setting it needs to be on.....thx alot for all your guys help in advance.

here are the pics,

set the dial to the red "200"

plug the red probe into the "V" hole

and plug the black probe into the "COM" hole

If you had a brand other than the Kenwood, I would just wire up the new harness instead of disassembling the old as it will be cleaner. Use some wiretires to keep that chit neat too. Why the x889?

wouldnt i have to use a the new wiring harness to my factory one no matter what the brand??..i guess i didnt understand waht you said maybe, anyways i got the x889 cause i talked to alot of people that had the same deck and really liked it and it had better features then my pio 760mp and plus i got it for 220 off crutchfield. It was either gonna be this or the 8445 but i really didnt like it cause it didnt have a detachable face and and i had had talk to some people taht had sold both brands amd liked the kenwood alot better.Might be of course just opinion though.Do you not think its a good HU???

its all relative to what u like.

As long as it doesn't skip when playing cd's or not function properly i would think its a good HU

Most relative age hu's from a brand swap pretty easy and if you had a Kenwood before it would likely just plug in. As for the 889 question, I am only into SQ but am always curious as to why people buy whatever they buy.

well i heard this HU was a really good one for SQ cause thats mainly what i was going for cause i think i got my pioneer mainly for the looks and it didnt have the features i wanted it just looked pretty.

Buying the 3 year warranty, at least for me, ensures that the unit will fail in 3 years and one day :)

1096 days until failure.
