Dustcap issues w/recone

Recommended Posts

I can't get the dustcap to stay in place, what am I doing wrong? Rubberized glue didn't hold,CA didn't hold,5 min epoxy didn't hold.i ruffed the surface of dustcap w/emery cloth. Time to step back and punt!

Also the first two weeks after the recone I had to keep volume down my amp would protect on me. Now I can full tilt w/no issues, confused on that also.

Also the first two weeks after the recone I had to keep volume down my amp would protect on me. Now I can full tilt w/no issues, confused on that also.

The T/S parameters change (sometimes a lot) after the soft parts fully break in.  This will change the the impedance curve and thus your load presented to the amplifier will be different.

when putting on a dust cap wear latex gloves.........

all you have to do is touch the sanded surface of the dust cap with oily/sweaty skin and it will come loose

before gluing wipe the cone surface with  99% Isopropyl as well as the dustcap before it is sanded

...they will never come loose

I also make a handle out of masking tape and stick it to the center of the dustcap so I have

something to hold on to when I drop it into place
