New Build, help me decide!

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a 2010 GMC Sierra Crew Cab

My situation:

Ive already installed an Alpine IVE-535HD DVD receiver, 2 sets of Kicker RS Components, a Kicker IX500.4 amp. I have a Sundown 1200 mono amp that has been installed also and will be building an enclosure and buying subs next weekend. My issue is I am torn on what config to go with...

Option 1 - (2) Sundown SA-8's in a 1.5cf, front firing, side ported enclosure under the seat tuned to 30-32hz.

Option 2 - (4) Infinity Reference 860w 8's in a front firing, front ported enclosure under the seat tuned to 32hz

My main objective is to grab the lows into the mid 20's with authority. Has anyone had experience in a similar vehicle with either two setups?

Thanks in advance for any help/recommendations!

To get low low you'll want more surface area than a pair of eights, it'll just make the whole process so much easier on you.

Icon 12" would be nice :)

It isn't about getting low.  8's are just a rather dumb size for a sub-woofer. There are very few good reasons to use one and the OP doesn't have any of those.

Only 8" sub I've actually owned was the samsung Ht in a box 5.1 system that had a ported 8. I just lost the drive to try smaller woofers after picking up towers with 10" mids. My head just couldn't fit around mids > woofer.

Niche market?
