I recently did a install using a audiopipe ap3001d (older 16volt discontinued model) on two 15" kicker l7's in a seald enclosure 1.5cuft. each. The amp was shocking strong. But on to my question , has anyone dealt with the audiopipe apsm 1500 mono block? And if so do you think it would be to much for my two first gen. Dcon 12's in 1.2cuft sealed inclosures? And ps. can a box from sketch up be uploaded on the site? If so how? Thanks for all help.

well if you're running a pair of dcons you wont need that much power. you wont hear much a difference in output and you'll run the risk of damaging the subs. I'd look at some other amps.

take a screen shot of the box in sketchup and upload it to your preferred image hosting site. then post it here.

edit: i should say that you could use the amp if you like. but dcons wont take that kind of power and certainly dont need that much.  so keep the gain down a bit

no room for ported?

if you could sell the RF for a 1000 wrms amp and not lose any money on the deal than that would an OK upgrade. Take note, the increase in output is only 3db theoretically. Real world output will be 1-2db. Which is only slightly louder, audibly. No point running more than rated power on dcons.

the better (cost effective) option would be to lower the noise floor in the vehicle with sound deadening.

The set up is in a Sedan Deville, I had them in a ported box built to specs I found here on the site. A while back it was specs for duel ported box here. But that was to boomy for my taste. I like sq but like strong bass at times.

it was probably boomy because the bass was over power the midbass.

Well I thought that to, so I changed out the midbass with some dayton audio 5.25 midbass drivers from parts. expresshttp://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-nd105-4-4-aluminum-cone-midbass-driver-4-ohm--290-212. They helped a lot but still a bit boomy

By the way im running a 3way passive set up up front an and 2way in the rear. Front crossover points are 500 and 4.5k, factory 6x9's in the rear with http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-nd25fn-4-1-neo-silk-dome-tweeter-element-4-ohm--275-053. Im happy with the midbass and hi's just would like more re enforcement on the low bass.

there isn't a 5.25" inch midbass on the market that could keep up with a pair of 12s. what is the lpf for the sub and hpf for the midbass?

This sounds like more of a installation issue. Crossover settings, sound deadening, and so forth.

Have you thought about building a new ported box tuned lower?

I recently built one for the new DCON powered by a ZED MIRKO I and it sounds amazingly smooth tuned @30hz.

Well nem, I did think on that for awhile but just built a custom designed sealed box, but not totally aginest the idea. What do you suggest the tuning should be?

I like 30hz myself, but I am old school like that.

I do have 2 older dcon 10" subs sealed on 500rms and they get pretty nasty in the wife's camry. The only reason I went sealed as for room.

I went sealed but used just as much space as ported, because of the design. But seem to like the tight sound of sealed better. But I'm sure a well designed ported sounds nice.

Did you try to turn down the rear speakers ? The first time I did it, I suddenly found my sub had a better sound, and my front stage too. It was surprinsing.

Each time I change the position of the box, I feel a change in the sound. Did you try  to move it a bit ?

Good luck !

BTW a 15 L7 in 1.5 ft3 sealed box must be super boomy ! I had one in 2.something net, and I hated it. I liked it in a 5ft3 sealed box !!!

Well, I did turn down the rear, my rear are just for rear fill. My front stage sounds fine in my opinion. The box can't be moved around its built to fit between the wheel wells. And for the l7 naw not boomy. In the monte carlo 06 model it sounded fine. Plus the costumer was dead set on being able to get the spare out of its compartment.
