I agree about the loss, but its just a step to make the company grow. The DIYers, like myself, will flock to the other ones. Should make companies like SS and SI happy

On another note, this is just an evolution of a company. I can recall my teenage years when JL was just breaking out. Their drivers were beyond every other driver on the market in their price range and they were CHEAP back then.

And again, you will NEVER see an 8" driver from SI, unless Nick happens to get an interest in making components again. I am VERY surprised we are even seeing a 10" coming to the market from him.

it's not over for RE. they have a very solid reputation. they will hurt a bit, but like RF, JL and such, people will want the product regardless of price because of name.

me? i could care less. i thought RE was all about hype after getting my XXX. it definitely wasn't what it was hyped up to be. and Dave didn't like it getting a soso review either. he's no mike or nick.

ascendant, SI, and SS are still here for diy. and SI and SS have products that more then hold their own against Adire, RE, Jl or whomever you want to mention. ( i say nothing about ascendant becuase i've not heard their product)

dont forget Incriminator, Mpire, and Adire hasnt changed its prices as much as RE. A tumult for 700 retail and probably 5-600 from a dealer is better than w7, SX, and probably MX. sure there was the initial piss off at adire, but once they actualyl start sending out drivers full fledged like they used to i think you will see the bonor come back. Brahma is still basically the same price as before.

Also, ascendnat is by far running the best deals right now. the Assasin outcalsses the RE series in many ways, low end extension, output, clarity, and sexiness. Im amazed chad can do it for the price.

and then there is the semi main stream such as alpine and eclipse and dimond which have good deal vs performance. Im not going to lie, the Type R is a great driver, i jsut odnt like it because of it beind put on a pedistule it is unworthy of.

TCsounds is still going good and strong, mostly because of their awsome motors which they do OE manufactureing for some of our favorite companies. Much like adire.

All in all im not irritated because i think the DIY realm os over. Im irritated because they alienated the people who got them off the ground in the first place.

oh and custom Mag 8 would kick ass

Ascendant is a joke, IMO...their lack of support for the online marketplace cost them any future business from me. Their situation on CSO/SIN was very poorly-handled.

people are getting way too caught up on the direct pricing. you go to a dealer (dealer's can ship you know) and get pricing that is very close to what the direct pricing was previously. these changes support the dealer network rather than kill it like they were doing before.

because people on here consider themselves part of the "internet DIY" crowd, RE is automatically losing a lot of sales? if you are foolish enough to think that internet DIY people who change their favourite sub everyweek are an important niche in a company's success, then i would be most excited at the prospect of some of you starting a business.

This was gone about all wrong, it alienated the customer base that put them where they are, even with a new dealer network, the only people who are going to know what RE products are the above mentioned customers, people who are going to walk into a dealer and see a company that they have never heard of with very high prices are not going to buy them.

it worked for JL Audio, didn't it? worked for macintosh, audison, brax, tru, dls, etc....

get real man. take your energy and use it in a business course or something.

no, actually i don't like Resonant Engineering very much; i hate the fanboys even more. in fact, i predicted this price rise several months ago on a couple other forums. i must say i find it bothersome that the only person who looks at the situation as a logical business decision gets called a fanboy :confused:

anyone with at least some experience in the business can see this as a positive move for the company...going B&M = more money

its just the fact that RE just one da yditched thier main demographic, the internet crowd they built thier reputation upon that got the internet public so pissed off.
