Some pics of the final tablet install look:

Still completely stock Nexus 7, I never shut if off, it just sleeps, battery never goes under 70% unless I forget to hit pause when I turn off the car.

Ignition on and it's instantly on biggrin.png

 

The car was not low enough so I added a lip:
