Enclosure Help for CMPx2 15

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I need a little help designing a ported enclosure for my new Crystal CMPx2 15". It's going to go in the trailblazer for now. I listen to nearly everything so I'm looking for a good daily build. I could be off but I'm thinking I want to tune somewhere between 31-33Hz so I can get some lows.

My size limitations are 46" wide x 16" high x 14" deep. I have a little wiggle room on height and depth, but I'd like to keep as much space as possible in the Trailblazer. I will post T/S parameters below and I expect to be running at 1500+ watts with maybe a little headroom, probably going to just grab a RF T1500bdcp, unless I get a better deal on something else. I'd really appreciate the help guys!

  • Fs 23.5 Hz

  • QMs 7.33

  • VAS 4.2 cu ft / 119 Liters

  • CMs .123 mm / N

  • MMd 12.7 oz / 360 Grams

  • Xmax 1.10 in / 28 mm

  • Qes .56

  • Re 2.0 Ohms

  • Z 2.0 Ohms

  • BL 14.0 Telsa / M

  • Power Handling 1600 Watts RMS

  • Qts .52

  • SPL 92.2 dB

  • Voice Coil Diameter 3.0"

  • Displacement .3 cu ft

  • Mounting Depth 7 3/8"

IIRC, when we were playing with them off the old Zapco AG750's, we were leaning fairly small enclosure wise, on average.

Why not grab the IA 10.1 while on sale? ;)

Aaron... I was considering it. I'd rather have the 20.1 but it's outta my range. I'll tell you this, if I can raise enough money for the 10.1 before the sale ends, I'll probably just grab one.

Don't know how quick you need one, I'm in Vegas for the week, if you know your preference on tuning and box size I can help you with a design and cut sheet when I get home.

Sub will be here Monday, but I'm not in a huge hurry. Max dimensions/tuning available in first post. I'm very interested in what you have to say Q, your crazy enclosures for the Ethos' you posted intrigue me.

Would you rather have Quentin design it. I'm sure his design would be much better.

I can't stress enough how much I appreciate your willingness to help bassink. You are one solid dude. I'm going to hold out for Q and see what he comes up with. Thanks again though.

Did you buy this off ebay?  I thought this sub was comparable to the XXX v3 back in the day?

Q I think I'm looking for something exotic. I have no reservations when it comes to the construction so feel free to get crazy. I think your time is worth my money as well, so when you get back and ready to work, please accept.

You've got to give me an idea of what you are looking to do as far as asthetics. And refresh me on outter dimensions.

Power will be at 750w RMS @ 4 ohm until I can keep up with ~1500 @ 1 ohm. Might be able to at start up I'll have to see. As far as aesthetics man, I'm open to anything. Tuning I'm open to anything, just looking for as flat as possible response from 30 (or lower) to 63Hz. Thank you so much bro.
