Not bad.

What's the onboard fuse ratings on it? Just wondering if it'll run off of my bench supply...so I can do a head to head with the SV811's.

WOW!

I could not get this thing to clip at all through my scope with tones, but it might be because it's low on batts;)

It does clip with music, and you can hear it. But it does get damn loud! Sounds damn good too! Looks beautiful.

Pics of the 'ifyouwanttocallitaninstall' tomorrow. lol

It seems this amp is able to play 'ethnic' music w/o any problems.:lol2:

I put in 36M's greatest hits CD and it plays it to perfection. I used Godsmack's latest album and noticed the guitar has a more distinct sound, but I'm sure this is due to how I set up my gains for a little clipping. Nothing a little tuning from my EQX can't manage.

This amp has power, lots of power. I feel it's underated a little. I had an Avionixx 440.4 and only used the front 2 channels on it, and this amp, the AX tu300, is louder than it. Keep in mind it's rated for more power, 100x2 @ 4 ohms. While the 440.4 was 85x4 @ 4ohms, but it's been said that it too was underated also. It comes also comes with a nifty little remote level(gain) control, which I neglected to use because I practice the Ron Popiel methof of gain setting. SET IT AND FORGET IT! :lol2:

This amp has looks. It comes with it's own cloth to keep it polished and look sexy. You can see in a few of the pics I had trouble with the flash because the amps heatsink is blingin'! The bottom of the amp is covered in a single plate of, I'd say 1/4" thick of plexiglass? Inside of it there's 2 tubes, I don't know which ones they specifically are as I'm no tube guru.

The connections on the amp for power and ground are both 4awg. Remote wire looks to accept upto 12awg wiring, along with the speaker terminals. All of the connections, are gold plated, and use a small phillips screwdriver to tighten connections. Dials on it are the sameway, just not plated.

For those looking to some power, and sweet looks to add to their install. this amp is for you. If you're just looking for an amp to power your install. This amp is for you. If you need a decent amp for your your frontstage and lack the funds to pay for it. Get a job!

Interesting scope plot...you can tell it's a solid-state PA :)

It's almost impossible to drive a true tubed output stage to a square wave...you can get it to, but you really, really have to be trying.

When it's just the preamp, of course, things are different...

eww square waves. nice review. most of your review is about how the power is nice, but can you actually hear the "tube" difference?

I guess so, like when you drive it into clipping. it's not as bad as an SS amp, but it's still a little harsh.

my scope RMS rating under clipping for this amp was 173.5W RMS @ 4ohms just right under clipping.

The Vellmen scope has a TRUE RMS readout, but don't take that number to heart, it's with a reactive load.

My Viper 600D does 557.8w RMS @ 1ohm right under clipping:(

Very intriguing.

Sorry to hack the thread, but Jim, you are switching tubes correct?

The warranty will then be voided

It's a demo unit, I hardly think the warranty's of critical importance on this one :)
