Best Speaker for 18" ported HT subwoofer

Recommended Posts

Hi, I finally decided on building my own HT subwoofer (50%HT and 50$ music) and I want to build the best I can of cours at a reasonnable price. I believe I should go with a 18" and planning on using a 7cu3 box.

I also love massive bass and I would agree to have a little more power even if I loose a little quality, this is why I am going with a ported box.

Now, is the Fi Q 18 would be my best bet? What about the TEAM serie? I don't know yet what frequency I will be using, somewhere arounf 30hz?

For the box, here is the 18" shema :  http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44520-q-series-cut-sheets/

Thank for your help!

Home Theater and music require different boxes.  Tuning in the low teens for movies is where you want to be.

It's gonna be hard to fit an 18 in ~7 feet and still get a low enough response.

Interesting.... Any other good suggestion for driver/sub combinations? I'm really looking for the WOW effect.

You really don't need anything super powerful for DIY ht builds the "STEREO INTEGRITY ht sub"  is what everybody has been using. Not really expensive either 240shipped and it can handle 1krms clean power easy so can  the obsidian.

Im running two 18inch obsidian audio's 6cubes net after port and sub displacement each ported and its way too small still.

that sub is so much. you could get a pair of si 18's and have more output then that and still save money! Amp I would recommend a behringer inuke cheap reliable power
