2005 Elantra hatch FI SP4 build

Recommended Posts

Been putting this off for a while. I have been contemplating on doing a wall then I said nah i'll just trade the sub and back to keeping it and doing something with it. Well here goes a buncha wasted time later and I finally decided to kick off the build. I decided to stay street and try something different for once. I will reveal my complete box plans once it is in the car. Time for pics.

So how do you get rid of those pesky lines? Why wood filler of course! At least I think. Still going strong on the enclosure.

Thanks! This will be my first time going for aesthetics. After putting this much work in the enclosure I'm not sure if looks is something I will strive for again though lol. Even still i'm not finished and still not sure i am going to keep up the looks

Looking good!

Thanks. Still a ways to go!

Nice Ride !!!

Thanks. It's the wifes car. This is my first season ever competing and I figured I'd compete with her car since I blew an AQ2200 about 2 and a half weeks ago in my truck. It's funny cause I can burp a 148 in clinique with the current setup, but struggled a 144 when I went official. I hope the SP4 helps with that :)

Ugly = loud

HAHAHAHA!!!

I may eventually go for a more refined & "pretty" build. It will most likely be after child support falls off In about 4yrs.

Keep up the nice work & take your time bro, you'll appreciate it alot more when it is all said & done ;)

I sure hope so. I am starting to appreciate what Lee went through making Senchez box now. Even though I was there momentarily to pick it up I picked up alot of good ideas for this one.

Nadicle, what's in the Burbank? Any pics or a build log?

nice work so far man!

Thanks!

To be honest having a router and a sander were the two biggest helpers other than the drill and circular saw. I really can't stress that these 4 tools were probably essential for this enclsosure.

No build log, but here's a pic of what's in there. 4 Obsidian 18's on a MTX 1501D now.

Can't see it too well, but there is actually 3/4" on top of 1" here.

Thanks!

Just a quick FYI, but this is the second enclosure i've ever made with absolutely no woodworking skills before hand. The first enclosure was of course with the 4 Obsidian 18's. Tomorrow I will toss it in the car for a quick test and if it sounds like im hoping I will take it back out and give it a once over with finer grit sandpaper and give it a few coats of paint.

Looks absolutely nothing like the pics anymore. Sanding, round-over bit, and filling made a huge difference.

This one probably does the most justice. BTW don't mind the top notch shop vac with the helix technology.
